1/72 truck kits

Hello all,

 

Does anyone know of 1/72 truck kits, from any other companies I may have missed?

 

I've looked at the Itelari and Revell catalogues and they are 1/24 and a couple of 1/32 anerican ones.

 

Been asked if I could build a truck with flatbed trailer in 1/72 scale if there is one, for a diorama with a 1/72 Phantom on a flatbed trailer as seen in this site. Not worried about the jib, but would help if it was a Scania.

but I've only got 1/24 Italeri ones in my stash.

 

Might not be anything but unfortunately my knowledge is very limited outside of Revell and Itelari, not sure if there's some 'cottage industries' I'm missing?

Keil Kraft used to do a range of 1/72 truck kits in injection moulded plastic, but I have no idea what makes they did, the only one I have is a Ford Transcontinental tractor unit. There's a few listed on ebay at the moment under 1/72 Keil Kraft....

Keilkraft kits are later issued by Scankit - all the same plastic.

 

Keilkraft made only the trucks, trailers not all in there offer.

They did do trailers, or a trailer, there's two Hapag Lloyd box trailers listed on ebay UK at the moment.

 

But after looking at the pic in the OP, their kits are of a much earlier era....

Trucks in this scale are rare, ww2 stuff is available but you want something current. 3D printing would be an option if you can find someone to do it. It likely wouldn't cost to much because of how small the truck/trailer would be. I also want to make something like this but don't want it all in 1/24 because of length. Say a B-29 fuselage on a trailer for example, gets big fast. Older rigs are boxy and could be scratchbuilt, but finding nice wheels isn't easy. Hope you figure this out, I'd like to see this F-4 combo made. I just make 1/24/25 trucks but have mostly 1/72 and 144 planes.

Thanks for your help guys, thought it would be a tricky idea but just in case I missed something! 

 

As keefr22 mentions, they are an earlier era, however they might come in use it I want an earlier model to build so I shall remember that company thank you!

 

Greenmadengineer - that's an idea I didn't think of! I will have a look at some die-cast catalogues from Oxford Co etc, 1/76 wouldn't matter too much as it's only a small difference, even if I had to make a flat bed from plasticard.

Good for you for attempting, but you'll find there's rather more than just a small difference between the scales when you look at bulk - you see volume quicker than length and the difference is around 17%.

I assumed that he didn't want military stuff or historic types, otherwise there are masses of stuff from the likes of PSC, Ace, and pretty well everyone does a "Jimmy",

Dropping back to the OP the Scan-kit, later Kiel Kraft, now Knightwing kits are currently available direct from Knightwing and probably at a more favourable price (£9.75 ea post free over £10) than from E-bay or S/H dealers.

Note there are three pages with tractor units on pages 2 & 3.

Despite the page saying OO-HO I can confirm these were originally marketed as 1/72 and look substantially larger when placed alongside true OO/HO items such as EFE.

Whilst there is no Scania available it may be possible to use the cab from the Foden (ex-Davric) kit to produce something similar to the UK military Fodens of the era.
