TonyOD
Here's the challenge: you have to get rid of your entire stash, but you are allowed to keep ten kits. no more. You can buy aftermarket stuff for them if you want, but no more kits, ever, for the rest of your days What would they be? I'll go first... Airfix Whitley GR Mk VII Revell Lancaster B.I/III Revell B-17G Airfix Shackleton MR.2 Italeri (Fujimi) Phantom FG.1 Hasegawa B-25J Mitchell Smer (Heller) F-4U Corsair Academy B-24 Liberator Italeri Fiat BR.20 Cicogna Airfix Sea King HAR 3./Mk. 34 Funny how so may multi-engine props feature in my list, also that Heller hardly features, but then the Beatles hardly feature in my top ten songs even though they're my favourite band. Over to you! Edited July 18, 2021 by TonyOD 2
Ray S
Can we keep kits for Me, Myself and I too? I am afraid I would be like that animal exactly halfway between two piles of food, I could not choose! However, on my list would (probably be) Wingnut Wings Bristol F2B (1/32) Wingnut Wings RE8 (1/32) Zvezda HMS Dreadnought 1906 (1/350) Airfix EE Lightning F1A (1/48) Esoteric Boulton Paul Overstrand/Sidestrand (1/72) ICM SMS Markgraf (1/350) Niko SS Ohio (1/700) Starling HMS Alynbank (1/700) Imai Cutty Sark (1/120) Mikromir Handley Page Hastings (1/144) - even though I have not got it, it is on the way from Hannants though This is an interesting topic, and much harder than I thought! Richard E
Good discussion topic for a Sunday afternoon. Ask me in another five minutes and I'll probably come back with a competely different list but, in no particular order, here's my offering: Hasegawa 1/72nd scale General Dynamics FB-111A Airfix 1/72nd scale Avro Vulcan B Mk.2 (the new one) Kinetic 1/48 scale BAe Sea Harrier FRS Mk.1 Fujimi 1/72nd scale McDonnell Douglas Phantom FGR Mk.2 Hasegawa 1/72nd scale McDonnell Douglas F-4G Phantom Revell 1/32nd scale Panavia Tornado GR Mk.4 (conversion from the GR Mk.1) Airfix 1/72nd scale Avro Lancaster B.III AMT 1/72nd scale Boeing KC-135R Accurate Armour 1/35 scale Chieftain ARRV Mk.7 Tamiya 1/24th scale Mercedes CLK GTR
Jb65rams
That is a difficult question, but helped the afternoon pass whilst following the F1, golf, cycling and cricket. Too hot to model. 1/48 Airfix Walrus (+ AM resin catapult) 1/48 Airfix Sea Hurricane (+AM resin catapult) 1/48 Airfix Sea Vixen 1/24 Airfix Hellcat 1/12 Tamiya Tyrrell Ford F1 1/350 Zvevda HMS Dreadnought 1/32 WNW Sopwith 2F1 ‘ships’ Camel 1/32 WNW Sopwith Triplanes 1/35 Meng mk.V Male Tank 1/700 Trumpeter USS Nimitz
bentwaters81tfw
Ooohh, this is tough. In no particular order. Airfix 1/48 F Mk1A Lightning with it's 2 seat conversion. Combat Models 1/32 McDonnell F-101 Voodoo Bandai 1/16 Showmans engine Bandai 1/20 Lamborghini Marzal AMT 1/12 Cord 812 Coffin Nose coupe. TonyOD
Some interesting choices across a wide range of genres and scales. I feel that my selection of 10 1/72 kits, all planes, seven bombers, a rather obvious jet, a single fighter and a token helicopter is somewhat unimaginative!
Duncan B
What a great question. I suspect that my 10 would change every 15 minutes until I'd worked my way through the entire stash however I'll have a go. any one of my Wingnut Wings kits (I could cheat and keep the Greentails Trilogy which has 3 kits in the box) Airfix 1/48 EE Lightning Eduard 1/72 Bf110 (any one of the range they have done) Great Wall Hobby 1/48 Sukhoi Su-27UB Flanker (the GWH Flankers are all excellent kits but I really like the look of the UB) Accurate Miniatures 1/48 Dauntless (again, any one of them but probably the -1 for the yellow wings colour scheme) Finemolds 1/72 Bf109 (superb little kits and still the best 1/72 109 in my opinion) Airfix 1/72 Gloster Javelin FAW.9 (as a place holder for when Airfix bring out a new tool one based on their 1/48 kit, please Mr Airfix!) Hasegawa 1/48 F-4K Phantom FG.1 (again as a place holder for when Zoukei Mura release their FG.1, it will happen) Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish floatplane AMG 1/48 Hawker Hart Ask me again in 10 minutes and I'll come up with another 10! Paul821
Some may not believe it but there are some of us on BM whose stash is very close to below ten, assuming we ignore started kits that have returned to said collection. Thanks to my selling kits before the latest house move, lockdown and a couple of GB's I have achieved that status. However the number of model railway items awaiting a layout might exceed some people's stashes.

davecov
A great subject for a thread, Tony. I have nicked the idea for the ATF! The majority of my "top ten" show that I have enough of a problem storing them, let alone building them: 1. Revell 1/142 North Sea Trawler (05204) 2. Airfix 1/72 Bristol Beaufighter T.F.X. (02003-5) 3. Airfix 1/24 James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (823) 4. Heller 1/8 Citroën 15 Six Traction Avant (80799) 5. Heller 1/100 HMS Victory (80897) 6. HobbyBoss 1/72 German 80cm K(E) Railway Gun 'Dora' (82911) 7. Italeri 1/35 Schnellboot Type S-38 (5620) 8. Revell 1/200 Offshore Oil Rig North Cormorant (08803) 9. Revell 1/144 Fletcher Class Destroyer (Platinum Edition) (05150) 10. Tamiya 1/72 Vosper Fast Patrol Boat Perkasa (PT7201) The top two may seem to be a bit surprising but the Beaufighter is the longest serving kit in my stash, given as a present at Telford in 2009 and I promised to make it as a twin-tail job - one day.... The North Sea Trawler at number one was supposed to be made shortly for my elderly neighbour (ex Merchant Navy) for whom I had made the Revell Harbour Tug in the past. Sadly, during my holiday up at the Moray Firth last week I learnt that he had passed away at the age of 84. Dave
TonyOD
Again, great choices, @davecov. If you really boiled it down to one kit and one kit only from your stash, and that's it, you can never build another, it would make for an interesting Group Build!
Graham Boak
A quick stab suggests: Arma Hobby Hurricane Mk.IIb 607 Sq UK or SEAC Airfix Victor Matchbox Halifax III maybe as Mk.VI or even Mk.IX AModel Jetstream (Flown in that one) Airfix HMS Belfast converting into HMS Newcastle One of a wide selection of NA.16 variants - probably the Azur NA.57 but may be the new Special Hobby Harvard Mk.IIB Canadair CL.215 - memories of holidays in Greece. Airfix 1/24 Harrier after 47 years or my wife will brain me. White Ensign HMS Venus Monogram Bearcat that I've never started because it is so lovely I feared I'd ruin it. Yet no 1/76 trucks/tanks nor 1/144 multi engined types. I could no doubt come up with at least a few kits that could replace those on that list. There remains the question of "Why am I not currently working on any of these?" Because of all the others, of course...

Graham Boak
My only Mach 2 is the Amiot 350, and I could probably manage 4 or 5 but would run out of options after that. AFAIK Unicraft only make subjects that weren't built in any number, and the FM Halifax is the wrong scale. I admit to really thinking of the three basic types that could satisfy everyone: Harvards, Hurricanes and Halifaxes. In another universe, ten 0/400s might be an interesting challenge. Paul Bradley
Hmmm. I keep a database of all my kits, and one of the tabs is my Top 100, so I have to reduce that..... In no particular order: 1. Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire VIII - I have a ton of aftermarket for this 2. Heller 1/400 HMS Illustrious - ditto, to be built as she was at Taranto 3. Wingnut Wings 1/32 Sopwith Snipe - love this kit! 4. Revell 1/32 Panavia Tornado - another kit with gobs of aftermarket 5. Revell 1/32 Eurofighter Typhoon 6. Airfix 1/24 Hawker Typhoon 7. Airfix 1/72 Concorde - I have a crazy plan to do this as a cutaway, complete with golfer........ 8. Italeri 1/35 Vosper MTB - my granddad served on MTBs during WWII and this would be a tribute build 9. Polar Lights 1/350 Enterprise NX-01 - love Star Trek 10. Dragon 1/35 Sherman Firefly 1C That should be enough to keep me going for a good few years! Edited July 19, 2021 by Paul Bradley

spruecutter96
Funnily enough, I have considered this one before. My "top ten": 1. Tamiya 1/32nd F-14A. 2. Hobbyboss 1/16th Tiger 1 (I have WAY too much aftermarket for this one to disappear). 3. Trumpeter 1/32 A-10. 4. Trumpeter 1/32 Su-27 (loads of aftermarket, again). 5. Trumpeter 1/32 A-6E Intruder. 6. Trumpeter 1/32 A-7 Corsair II. 7. Revell 1/32 F-4F "Luftwaffe Wild Horse" Anniversary scheme (yep, the kit's not so great, but - oh my - those markings....!) 8. Academy 1/32 F-16 (with the 2015 Greek "Zeus" demo-scheme decals and masking set - possibly the coolest display-scheme ever). 9. Hong Kong Models B-25J Mitchell (with "Betty's Dream" Bat-Out-Of-Hell a/market decals). 10. ICM 1/32 AH-1G Cobra (there are so many cool schemes to use on this one!). Cheers. Chris.
