Travelair Mystery Ship- little red racing coupe

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Been working on this little beauty as a distraction build whilst I complete some FAA projects.

A lovely little kit that was purchased on eBay very cheaply and it came with a resin cockpit and engine  I didn't use the resin engine as it is meant for the cowling less aircraft and the kit engine is actually very good. Brush painted using Humbrol enamels and rigged with Prym Knitting elastic.

Anyway enough of the twoddle here is yhe model.

If interested here's the link with some build pics

She really is a little beauty Chris and as always I'm really impressed by your superb brush painting - the finish looks flawless!

And a very nice base to set it off perfectly!

Top work all round! 👍

Thanks Richie very kind fella, it took a while to get the paint right and ended up correcting the wheel Spats twice!!! Although it was very relaxing to paint.

Thanks Keith,  very kind of you too.  I love brushpainting as very therapeutic.   The coats are thinned so level out well, and some coats of klear also help level out too. The base was made for a Gladiator years ago but now use as a base for all small enough to fit.  Andy Dyck kindly sent  me some of his excellent phot backgrounds to try and they are very good.

Thanks fella

Thanks Mark very kind of you, a great little model, it's same in size as a 72nd scale Spitfire, so very dinky really.

Thanks all for your kindness

Chris,

That is a lovely piece of work, all the more impressive that it is brush painted. You should be proud of this little beauty!

Thank Roger for your kind comments,  the red and black paints painted on beautifully the red was thinned slightly , but the black was straight from the tin as seemed thin enough. Very pleased and proud of this model.

Thanks fella for your support too.

That is a thing of beauty Chris!   Great work on an ancient model, man. :clap2: I have two of these kits stashed, one of which is in the vertical boxing, but that complex paint scheme has always intimidated me so much.  I'm happy to see that you nailed that look on your model!  🍺
