Modelsvit Dassault Mirage 4000 1/72

Hello

As I wrote many weeks ago I am in with this wonderful prototype that was the Mirage 4000.

It was a bigger Mirage 2000 which first flew in 1979 with two SNECMA M-53 engines but at the time France could not afford such a combat aircraft.

I will build this one as it was at 1987 Paris Air Show with a desert camouflage to tease Saudi Arabia but to no avail.

Here are the sprues and other parts from this 1/72 Modelsvit kit.

Another great subject choice!

Good luck with this one Patrick, I'm already looking forward to seeing the result.

Welcome to the GB.

I was thinking already once about straying into 1/72 just for this kit! Don't build it too impressive!

Which someone would do it in 48th...  :)

Hope you start her soon!

Hello

I have started my kit and here are some pictures in progress.

First I built the main wheel well :

next I glued both upper fuselage halves :

spacer.png

here are the pieces of the last part of the engine and the exhausts

spacer.png

they are glued inside the upper fuselage

spacer.png

further the upper fuselage is glued to the lower wings

spacer.png

spacer.png

you can see the limit between lower and upper wings is strange :

spacer.png

finally I sanded the lower wing depth to be level with the other part :

To be continued...

Hello

Here are some progress on this not so easy build.

First the areas where the joint was difficult

On the wing...

the upper leading edge...

under the wing leading edge...

under the whole wing...

and under the trailng edge.

In blue this is where where the elevons should hinge on :

And I cut there :

As there is no engine inside I had to cut some cardboard, glue at the end of the intakes and paint it black ( Hi Charlie Watts )

The ejection seat with PE from the box

The instrument panel

Inside the cockpit

Nice to see these progress shots with the tips you have included, I'll be pleased to have them come the day I build mine. :)

Steve.

Thank you.

I do as for my magazine contributions with maximum in progress pictures.

Hello Patrick,

I think you manage this difficult build well so far. As I plan to build it too, I will observe this thread carefully.

Hi David

Yes there are some little progress and I will finish this kit by the deadline.

Hello

Last night I airbrushed both brown and sand colours on this bird. Remember this prototype was proposed to Saudi Arabia at the Paris Air Show, but to no avail.

Looking good Patrick, I'm confident you can finish this in time.

Thank you but I am not confident to finish by the deadline as I am going to the country side on Friday afternoon for the weekend.

And there are 6 missiles with 72 metal etched parts to assemble ...

Hello

I am back on this one too. Here are the missiles with 12 metal fins each that is to say a bunch of 72 metal parts to glue at the right place and angle.
