Finally got started after finishing up my BF-109's.  I have definitely been spoiled by the Eduard Spitfire and BF-109 kits that practically assemble themselves.  I have the sense already this guy isn't going to go together as easily.

I have finished up the cockpit tub and ejection seat.  Building more or less out of the box, which came with photo etch seatbelts.

Looking messy, but starting to look like a Mirage III.  I have some serious cleaning up to do now.  Usually I am overly pessimistic about the cleaning up phase.  Hopefully that is the case this time as well.  The areas around the bottom of the air intakes (not seen here) are a bit of a mess.  Very strange engineering on that part of the kit made worse by the fact the fuselage was warped before I glued it up.

Painting mostly complete.  I am not usually a fan of pre-shading panel lines, but I had the black paint out to touch up the cockpit and went ahead with it.  I am really happy with how it turned out, especially on the blue parts.

I was really tempted to keep it a desert yellow Mirage:

But went with the camouflage scheme instead :)

Missing a pylon in the picture, but it isn't lost for once.

Calling this guy finished.  This will be remembered as a kit that fought back every step of the way, but I can't complain about the end result. Very nicely detailed kit from Eduard and pretty sharp out of the box.  If I was to build it again, I would paint the air brakes instead of using the red decals.
