Good progress. It bears a strange resemblance to a FW190 though. 😜

John,

any resemblance to a FW 190 is purely coincidental!

That is the official gospel...

That is a gross calumny sir. Baguettes at dawn! (With jam and coffee)

@jean thanks for the photo of the memorial. I wonder what’s there now? Don’t suppose there are any hidden airframes hiding in the shadows. Thanks also for pointing out the obvious fact that this ain’t a 190, but in defence of @Biggles87 the confusion is easily made……

Some sort of progress has been made albeit with filler. I’m finding this to be using far more putty than any other ‘new generation’ Airfix l have come across.

Fe190

The nose, wing root and under the rear fuselage all needing it.

Once that is done though, I’ll close it up for spraying an undercoat.

Then I need to see how many shades of green I have and which one suites me best 🤔

Hi @Max Headroom

Surely you can't have needed the whole of August for all that filler to go off ?

Any progress with your FW, whoops I mean SNCAC ?

Cheers Pat

To be honest, I have been concentrating on my Mosquito build. However, I was going to use this as a companion “whilst things set/dried”. I had time last weekend but Flickr has thrown a strop. At the moment I can’t upload photos! So a build thread at the moment would be like a juggling act on radio…☹️

I can still access my account and download existing photos

but that’s not much use…..

I’m in contact with the Flickr team and at some point will do a data dump🙄

Wow I didnt realise the French even flew 190's!

Did they use them in SEA.

Don’t think so. They were only in use for about 18 months and were replaced by Mosquitoes before going to Indo China

Right then…..back in harness with this one😁

I was up to here.

NC900

NC900

Thankfully the filler had fully set since application all those months ago and a couple of minutes light rubbing gave me the result I wanted.

Next thing to do was decide what shade of green. Well it definitely wasn’t going to be a RAF style green, so I had a hint around and came across this from my Finnish set

51541990711_0f8840688e_b.jpg

So that’ll do. It looked nice on my Finnish 109 from last year.

Still getting used to how thin many acrylics are though.

NC900

NC900

It looks much better after a second coat though. I will let that go off and give it a third and hopefully last application.

For a bit of contrast, I have decided to do the one with what I’ve interpreted as having a black nose, as per the photo kindly posted by @Michou

That’s it for now, just to prove I am working on it!

Just a small update from me for now. Painting continues. Still getting to this multiple coat of acrylic malarkey, suppose it stops me from flopping great wodges of enamel paint drowning all the detail!

Not much of the engine can be seen when the prop and cooling fan are assembled.

Is it me, or does the green with black cowling give it a hint of Mitsubishi Zero 🤔

Been a while but I’m nearly there.

I thought I’d treat myself to “l’application de cockades” n’est pas.

Hot water and Micro Set soon saw them on their final resting place.

And then the underside

aaaaaaaand now I realise I’m one roundel short🤬 I’ll see what the spares box chucks up *sigh*

In the meantime I’ll concentrate on the wheels and canopy.

I will meet the deadline 👍

A few more photos to show more progress.

No way was I going to try and mangle the P-47 rudder stripes and so decided to paint the rudder white and mask off the white central part and paint the red and blue….

51652727820_b317478c37_b.jpg

and painted

51652096213_9590f9b9ff_b.jpg

🔼 looks rather Romanian at the moment with that yellow Tamiya Tape 😆

Whack on the roll-over bar in the cockpit and push fit the rudder…..

51651046227_387b77e832_b.jpg

and finally because I wanted to, attach the canopy……

51652535214_5a202657ff_b.jpg

The ‘ropey’ camouflage finish is a happy little accident ((c) Bob Ross) and gives the basis for a little grotting up at the end. I gather there wasn’t much love for these hybrids and barely lasted 12 months in service.

I must admit this isn’t one of my better builds, but there comes a point when it comes together that you think ‘well it’s not that bad if viewed from a distance’! I think the rudder and canopy was that point.

Legs next👍

With the looming deadline that was all the impetus I needed to push this out of the hangar and onto the flight line.

51661657379_15985bc2a3_b.jpg

Legs and wheels mainly. I also masked the windscreen uprights for painting.

And after a few minutes it was done!

so that’s it. Mostly a new paint jobbie, my only alterations were to remove the wing gun armament and to flatten the underwing bulges on the cannon hatches. A quick raid of the transfers stash and there you have it, a SNCAS NC900.

Can’t say the build was an enjoyable experience, more workmanlike. Most parts fitted but there were a few bear traps, mostly around the engine (I was warned 🤨).

More ‘glamour’ shots soon in the RFI gallery.

Now back to that Mosquito…….

@jean

You’re very kind. Once the French started receiving war surplus allied stuff I can see why these were sidelined pretty darned quick.

Must admit this build was a bit ‘flat’ emotionally. Maybe a better kit (or even more references?) may have lifted the spirits. As it is, I have a model to add to my odds and sods collection of an Irish Hurricane, British 109 and an American Spitfire 🤓

Thanks again
