Airco and De Havilland - from stick and string to the jet age! Chat

Recommended Posts

Maybe it’ll be third time lucky :) While perusing my stash to determine which kits I’ll build for the French Fancy GB I realised that I have several De Havilland kits, namely. DH2, DH4, DH9 and a Tiger Moth and seeing how this could include the Airco machines (Designed by Geoffrey De Havilland as well as two Royal aircraft factory designs), all the Moths, and iconic aircraft such as the Dragon Rapide, the Mosquito and the Comet I thought this might make a good subject for a group build.

Arguably as De Havilland merged with the Siddley group in the sixties we could keep going with those machines too.

  • Marklo changed the title to Airco and De Havilland

Oh go on then, you caught me at DH4!

Ray

PS, Will you also include DHC? Like the Chippie, Beaver and Twin Otter or not? It is a pretty good list as it is.

Count me in. There are only 11 aircraft on the list in my stash and a few more that I can see myself adding to it so plenty to choose from.

Is there a reason the DHC-8 Dash 8 isn't on your list?

Quite a good excuse to build any of this years new Airfix releases - 1/72 Mossie, 1/48 Chippy and / or Vampire.

I've got plenty of others in the stash, but why not buy something new!

Count me in please.

Cheers.. Dave

  • Marklo changed the title to Airco and De Havilland at 12 already waiting for 12a :)

Hi Marklo,

I'd like to join in at 12a on the roster, if I may? I haven't currently got anything suitable, stash wise, but I've a hankering for a DH.5 and a Tiger Moth, and of course the Mossie is always a good option!

Cheers,

Mark

  • Marklo changed the title to Airco and De Havilland - Double digits already
  • 2 weeks later...

Please sign me up as well! I'm not sure what I'll build just yet, but my collection is short of Mosquitoes for starters.

  • Marklo changed the title to Airco and De Havilland - At 16 and counting

While going through my stash the other day, I found I had an old (very old) Czech Master Resin DH.9A, so that is a couple I could enter now!

All the best,

Ray (who is already on the list)

I’d to join in with something, not sure what it will be though.  I do have a stalled DH.2 but it would be more than 25% complete.

I'd love to see more of these in 144th, particularly the Moth series biplanes, but I've got a handful of qualifying types.

5 Vampires (with some resin engines too), a Sea Vixen, pair of Caribous and a Beaver.

So I'm sure I can find something to contribute.
