Steben
I know some may find this superfluous, but checking Chory's wehrmacht helmet colours against my GDR M56 helmet it is a dead on match with 1940 7018 Schiefergrau. East Germany ... full of awkward gear and decision making. A discarded wehrmacht RAL colour.
Jochen Barett
A great starting point for a general discussion on NVA (of all branches, border troops, police, etc.) of the GDR, and the heritage of Wehrmacht equipment (and men). In theory Eastern Germany used the TGL system for technical norms (naturally they could not use any Western system). When it came to paint: 1969: https://www.bbr-server.de/bauarchivddr/archiv/tglarchiv/tgl20001bis30000/tgl21001bis21500/tgl-21196-jan-1969.pdf 1977: https://www.bbr-server.de/bauarchivddr/archiv/tglarchiv/tgl20001bis30000/tgl21001bis21500/tgl-21196-mrz-1977.pdf 1987: https://www.bbr-server.de/bauarchivddr/archiv/tglarchiv/tgl20001bis30000/tgl21001bis21500/tgl-21196-jun-1987.pdf Naturally they will have taken a look at the old RAL system and Russian system(s) of the day.
