Covjets13
Hi all, building a VF-84 F-4J, flying protection participating in operation nickel grass, during the Yom Kippur war. What would the typical load out be? Thanks for your help. cheers Si
iainpeden
You won't go far wrong with a load of sparrows, sidewinders and a centre line tank. The USN tended to use the centre line tank more than the wing tanks because of stresses caused by the catapult launches of the carriers.
Alan P
Typically for that period it would be what @iainpeden said, the Sidewinders would be the AIM-9G/H model and your Sparrows would be AIM-7Es, but they're identical to the -7Fs in most kits. (Wikipedia) pic is from 1972 probably during the Linebacker II era in SE Asia, note the TERs on the outboard pylons 😉
