John Masters
Here's a fun one I have gad on the shelf for a while and feel it is time to take a whack at it. A venerable kit, and some neat decals shoed allow this Otter to settle right inaminst the Unarmed crowd. Box art... Profiles... Sprue... I'll get into it as soon as I rig the Bulldog over at the Bristol GB... I think this'll be fun! --John

Ray S
I am looking forward to seeing this one done, I have done 2 out of 4 kits from my stash so far, and I really like it! Any further ideas may be taken down and used... Ray
zebra
Nice choice John. I've got one part-built that I'm hoping to get finished in the KUTA GB this year. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
John Masters
Thanks @zebra I have to rig that Bulldog first and put it to bed. I am hoping Monday... How will you decorate your Otter?

Manx Airlines - I've designed my own decals for it (I use a very good decal printing service that prints in A4 so always get a few subjects done at the same time, so did this one at the same time as the sheet for my Il-76LL).
John Masters
OK...here we go. I think this is an old kit. The mouldings seem to be pretty rudimentary. Also, being in white plastic, I will have to wait until it is primed with grey to see where I need to fill with white putty... Skipping a few steps...the glass is in, wing halves together, the cockpit area constructed and all kind of a grey colour. This who are more industrious would open up the doors, fill the cargo bay with stuff, etc...I am building this as 'Looks great on the outside". Don't forget the weight! The nose option for the IRC aircraft is the same as the Channel Islands aircraft. And this bit of fishing tackle weighs in perfectly. Fit is good too! Coming along... --John
John Masters
Fuselage together... I couldn't resist puttying up those huge gaps in the nacelles... Props go yellow. I'll mask the tips and spray them black. --John
John Masters
I seem to have deleted a bunch of progress photos...maybe not, I am not sure. Anyway...landing gear on, nose on, stabilizers on. The nacelles look better and the exhaust ports have been added. I'll attache the wings tonight. --John
John Masters
Masks on the glass bits and some Milliput along the obvious, larger, seams. I did this yesterday so today I will clean i tup and give it some primer. --John
Romeo Alpha Yankee
This is looking great John, have just caught up on your thread and it is nice to see one of these being built.

Thanks Ray... And I have been slacking...house renovations, etc... I have been smart. I sprayed the black bits first and will mask them before giving the aircraft its all-white paint job. --John
John Masters
Black bits masked. The hard parts were the nacelles, especially beneath the wing. White from the Vallejo Primer White can... With the masks off it looks very black and white. The nacelles need a lot of touch-ups and also the leading edges. Easy stuff. --John
PattheCat
Another Matchbox Twin Otter. I'm happy .... makes me feel so much younger 😀
John Masters
Gotta get a move on with this one. I'll tidy up the paint tonight and get the wheels and landing gear painted.
John Masters
Approaching the deadline...the 8th, I think. Gotta get this off the bench! Decals on, wheels on. Touch up and satin varnish to go, then some light weathering. A white aircraft is difficult to photograph with one's phone. --John
John Masters
All done! I gave it some light dusting of exhaust and concrete tone...added the EZ Line radio wires, also added some plastic card dorsal radio/radar fins. Now, I know these things are often times very clean and shiny. Mine is depicted as being in use in dusty, windy, hot Afghanistan (or Algeria)...So it hasn't been hosed down yet... And, finished... I'll load the rest into the gallery later this evening. Thank you all for a fun GB. I was happy to participate. --John

Brad
Excellent work, looks like you just pulled it off a dusty airstrip.
PattheCat
Very nice and a good idea to have weathered it somewhat. According to the missions and local conditions having spotless aircraft was surely not a priority.
