1/35 Tamiya Willys Jeep

Recommended Posts

So I decided I needed something a bit fun and a bit quick to build

Behold! Tamiya's 1/35 Jeep

Looks nice a simple :)

And I decided to add a few extras, some US Airborne figures I picked up a while back

Because of the way this kit goes together I decided to build and paint all the sub assembly's separate starting with the chassis, which in typical Tamiya fashion goes together beautifully

With a spot of primer. All ready for painting

Seating all assembled ready for a primer coat

Couldn't get the dash to fit properly with the use of some clamps

Yes I thought that too. Added a few extras. Now on the shelf of doom. One day I'll finish it.

I often think that with a lot of my projects 😅 Take the Halifax in the background for example, it'll get finished... one day

That's looking great. My first Tamiya Jeep build, back when I finished kits, had a wire cutter and faded OD. Not as good as yours though. I'm in to see the final result.

As for your Halifax, I can beat that. Only today I was tidying the attic with my wife. I pointed out my Tamiya R75 Polizei. Bought in the late seventies. I still harbour hopes of finishing it.

Thank you for the kind comments :) The Halifax is quite possibly the worst kit I've ever attempted to put together! Just plain awful.

Made a bit of progress: -

Done a bit of pre dusting before gluing the tub to the chassis

Assembled some of the figures with a bit of a test fit: -

And got the decals in place ready for further weathering: -

Bit of progress, finished off the jeep this week. Most of the dusting done with a mix of Tamiya's XF-52 + XF-57 and a light dusting of my favorite earth pigment from Mig productions, P028 Europe Dust. Also started building a little base using an old Italeri building I had lying around: -

A coat of Vallejo Matt Polyurethane Varnish 'sealed' the deal and a final test fit of the figure before painting: -

Used some of Ak's Diorama acrylic terrain to form a basis and gave it a quick once over with some primer once I was happy: -
