I’d like to have this partially open (it slides along a rail) but there’s a separate part for a hatch door at the top (see picture) - presumably to give room for the tail fin of the Arado? Does anyone have any pictures of the door open? I’ve looked but only come across closed ones. I just want to know if the top hatch swings open? Thanks, Guy I assume you already found this thread http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4696&start=766 and know these pics https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f9/Bundesarchiv_Bild_193-16-6-31%2C_Schlachtschiff_Bismarck.jpg (closed) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b0/Bundesarchiv_Bild_193-03-1-10%2C_Schlachtschiff_Bismarck.jpg (half open, but the sliding door's rail ...) http://www.kbismarck.com/photo010.html ("left" hand side) and probably you won't care about other builders' interpretations (who can't even agree on the underwater color of the boats) https://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=47992 https://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=598198#post598198 Edited August 22, 2021 by Jochen Barett typo

I can’t believe that either, if you look at my Bismarck funnel, there’s zero chance of masking that.. surely the only way would be to paint first then apply the PE which is a no-no for me! @Jochen Barett Thanks Jochen, no I hadn’t seen those! Awesome references.. that’s going to really help. And just a bit further on.. the rear superstructure as it stands… Thanks, Guy

I'd thought about that but, in my case, the edges of the camouflage are all dead straight and I'm pretty certain I'd not be able to paint the liquid mask on in a straight line.

I see, liquid mask is not the most well behaved medium. I hate to say it but this sounds like a job for Mr Paint Brush. “Solderman”
Gisbod
Yep, I think I would have to say, none of those options are for me, I’ll just have to avoid camo, which is a shame, but it’s beyond me I think. I’d have no enjoyment in doing it… Guy

Gisbod
Morning, I’ve been a bit slow the last few days.. But I have done about 1000 PE steps😵 There’re all over the place! And another Range finder… Guy

ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Guy, I was going to say something deep and meaningful about a long journey beginning with a single step, but I think some chap named Confucius has beaten me to it. 🙂 And you've gone a lot further than a single step I see, all of them looking very consistent also. This is looking very well done. Regards, Jeff.
S-boat 55
Must have be a test of patience but the result proves its was worth it when you stepped up to the plate 😉
Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
Good work Guy. The thing with all those steps and the like is that you can sink so much time in to them and at the end there is precious little to show for it. At the end, however, they are the subtle details that transform a plastic kit into a model ship. You'd notice them more on someone else's OOB model that lacked them. They're the sort of thing made conspicuous by their absence once you know they existed.
Adm Lord De Univers
Oh my that is some insane detail going on. Completely agree with @ArnoldAmbrose that consistency is simply staggering. You've really stepped up the game here... Sorry, David
Iceman 29
Don't forget to add the ventilation ducts at this point, I didn't do it, I'll add it later. This detail was given to me by Stein Gildberg. These ventilation ducts have been added because of the sea breeze at this point in 1941. http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/bb/dkm/Bismarck-200-sg/index.htm http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=246667 4
Gisbod
Suddenly, everyone’s a comedian.. 🤪 Thanks for the links Pascal, they’re great. Yep, I intend to go through all the instructions before I commit to paint to check for all the things I’ve missed. It doesn’t help when you flit around like I’m doing. I've just moved onto the side hangars and have another door question! Does the right hand side of the door slide across the left hand door… Then they both swing open as one… Thanks, Guy

Iceman 29
Yes, it slides over the other one, then the whole thing folds outwards. 3
