NAVY870
I've got one of these for a nice price Can I build it accurately without adding Zimmerit or do I harden up and have a go at applying it? Ta
JackG
Zimmerit was applied during a certain time frame, December 1943 to September 1944. Tiger I production lasted from August 1942 until August 1944. So you see, Tiger production ended before the cessation of Zimmerit application. For historical accuracy, a late production vehicle would require it. regards, Jack Edited June 27, 2021 by JackG

noelh
Yes use the stick on stuff. My wife bought me a Tamiya Panther for Christmas years ago. I'm only now finishing it because pedant as I am it had to have Zimmerit. Tamiya eventually produced the Zimmerit. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I think Tamiya is crazy producing kits without Zimmerit. 1
Stuart Wilson
Don't know if it's still available but the AFV club zimmerit roller is perfect for the Tiger. I used milliput (an epoxy filler) and it makes it easy. Just take your time and apply it about half a millimeter thick. It doesn't damage the plastic and you can wash it off if you're not happy (before it dries that is!) Alternately the DEF models zimmerit transfers are great. I used them on the Academy Panzer IV (they come with the kit but you can buy them separately). I think they do them for the Tamiya Tiger I. Longbow
@M3talpig has a real good solution for home brewed Zim. He used some form of modeling clay.

Pig of the Week
We all had a bit of a conversation about magic sculpt as I recall, there was a youtube vid of a bloke who did some excellent Zim with it too that I saw at the time...
