81-er
Having been spurred on to scan them by rockpopandchips Nostromo restoration thread, I thought I'd share the info here as others will no doubt be interested. These articles were written by Martin Bower and originally published in Sci-Fi & Fantasy Models maagazine issues 10 (January/February 1996) and 11 (March/April 1996). I've scanned them as PDF's and saved them on Dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cnuhkfx474t5ji7/AACtifsb2squrbyxa84aCZyca?dl=0 As a bonus, Web Archive has a capture of Martin's own website (sadly now defunct) with further pictures and photos from the making of Alien https://web.archive.org/web/20160912032405/http://www.martinbowersmodelworld.co.uk/alien_models.html
JohnnyBros718
Thanks for this, 81-er!!! Have been a massive fan of Martin Bower's work since growing up on Alien and Space 1999, Outland, and more!!! Was lucky enough to see the restored Nostromo miniature (an understatement, it was huge!) in the Prop Store (was it Prop Shop) a couple of years ago, and it was a magnificent site to behold... The Nostromo and the Outland Refinery are amongst my most favorite of his miniatures, up there with the Millennium Falcon and the STTMP re-fit Enterprise. This was a treat --- thanks again! With Regards and Aloha, Johnny B.
Electric Indigo
Thanks for the articles! I have a few early issues of SF+F MM, but I'm not sure I have the Alien ones. Gavin Rothery (concept designer of "Moon") has a nice writeup of the history of the Nostromo miniature on his blog that has sketches by Cobb that are not in "The Book of Alien" and the yellow Nostromo: http://www.gavinrothery.com/my-blog/2011/9/28/getting-there-the-nostromo.html While you're there, I recommend his "Making of Moon" articles, they're quite hilarious.
81-er
I realised I'd missed the last page off from part 1, I've now added that to the Dropbox folder
