Marlin
Hi all. Summer 2021 is upon us here in my neck of the woods. ☀️ And with that I've started a small renovation project at the cottage. I've two garden benches that have rotted up and now needs some attention. 001 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 002 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The plan is to replace the rotten pine with some new oak and brush the rust away from the metal parts and give them a coat of gloss black. When in the cottage we always have some tasty dinner for Saturday, and this time was no different. So this Saturday I put some nice halibut pieces on the BBQ. I marinated the fish in lemon juice and freshly ground peppers about 30 minutes before. 003 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And after about 10 minutes on the grill they were done. 004 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And what a treat it was. I served the Halibut with a mushroom and parmesan risotto and some blanched aspargus. 005 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr That was one tasty fish I can tell you. But enough with the food for this update. Now it's time for me to return to familiar shores and Israeli F-16's. This will be my ninth IDF/AF F-16. Here's a family shot of them. v21 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The family consists of 1 F-16A Netz, 2 F-16C Barak, 3 F-16D Barak and 2 F-16I Sufa. I'll now add an F-16A Netz to the collection. My will be from the 115 Dragon Sqn, who're the IDF/AF Agressor Sqn. I'll be using the familiar Hasegawa F-16A 006 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 011 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr With decals from IsraDecals. 007 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 008 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 009 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr A small resin set from IsraCast. 010 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr (a borrowed picture) I havn't found the resinkit, but I know I have at least two boxes, somewhere... I actually started this build some seven or eight years ago, but I only painted the drop tank red. 012 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The telemetry pod is from AMK's Kfir kit. My version of this F-16A Netz will be a clean one, so first I plugged the holes for the pylons with some heat streached sprue. 013 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 014 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've primed some of the parts with some grey Humbrol enamel. 015 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I've cut the fuselage from the sprue and added the period correct gun muzzle panel. 016 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The fin have also been glued together. 017 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And with that this build is now officially started. To be continued..... /Bosse
trickyrich
and you have been very busy by the looks of it!!! I do like those squadron markings!! Hopefully you have a 119sqn Bats F-16 in your collection? You are allowed to do outdoor furniture repairs as long as it doesn't affect F-16 build time!! Marlin
Thanks Rich. Bat Sqn was the first Sufa I did. I plan to have this one glued up by this weekend. Then I'm off to the cottage for the yearly Midsummers Festivites and some R&R, and some carpentry for a week. /Bosse

Marlin
Eureka I found the resin set. 018 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And I actually had three sets. And in a flash I glued the flare pods on the fin in place. 019 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 020 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr With the resin set found I can relax and go to the cottage for a weeks vaccation tomorrow. Happy Midsummer to you all. To be continued, in a week..... /Bosse

Marlin
Hi. Here's a vaccation report and an update on my build. This year we celebrated MIdsummers Eve as it's was Christmas. 021 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr We usually celebrate Christmas with Anne's brother and his wife, but due to sickdom in the family and Covid-19 we've not been able to do that for the last two Christmases. And my brother-in-law are very fond of Christmas Turkey, so we surprised them with a Christmas party for Midsummers Eve complete with tree, music and all the trimmings. 022 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 023 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr It was a success I can tell you. When the festivities of Midsummer was over I started to clean one of my benches from rust. It only took about an hour with a rotating steel brush in my cordless drill and then I could start to paint the parts. 028 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I had also noted that the door to the patio was a bit scruffy, so I scraped off some loose paint and sanded it a bit so I could give it a new coat of paint. 037 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr When on vaccation you'll have to plan in some cultural event. Said and done. We took the car to Lövstabruk, a 20 minute drive from the cottage. 032 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 033 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 034 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 035 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Lövstabruk is a 17th century ironworks, with most of it's buildings preserved. And today it's a National Heritage. More info can be read here; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lövstabruk I'd read that the Inn at Lövstabruk served the very best "Raggmunk" (potato pancakes) https://www.swedishfood.com/swedish-food-recipes-side-dishes/215-potato-pancakes So I'd checked that this was on the lunch menu the day that we went there. 036 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And Oh Boy, was that rumor correct, the best "raggmunk" and salted pork I've had in years. And speaking of food. We had the BBQ loaded with good food all week. 029 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 024 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 025 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr026 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 027 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 030 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Spicy ribs and juicy chicken brests did taste very nice. One day the BBQ had to rest, since we'd bought some smoked salmon which was served with new potatoes and a roe-sauce. 038 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And it was washed down with a local beer from Lövstabruk Brewery. and a glass of Riesling. But the BBQ is our main cooker in the cottage. 042 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 043 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr So a peppersteak with potato gratin, and my wife absolutelly faboulos red wine sauce was the last dinner we made last week. The painting projects didn't take soo much of my time, just abount an hours work per day due to the long drying times for the metal paint, and the lin-seed oil paint I used on the patio door, but I got it done before the week was out. 039 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 041 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr We went home on Friday, because my daughter had plans with a friend for Saturday. So when we got home I sat done to work on my Netz. Parts had to be painted. 045 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Sub assemblies glued. 044 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I clean up the wings and glued the halves together. 046 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Painted the cockpit. 047 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Dry-brushed the instrument panels. 051 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr The thing I most dislike on Hasegawa's F-16 is the air intake, lots of seems that has to be sanded and puttyied. 048 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 049 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I used some liquid sprue as putty on the seams. 050 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And that's how far I've come so far. The plan is to have this one glued up and ready for primer before the weekend. To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Hi, and thanks Rich. I hope you're not on a diet, because there will be more BBQ pictures in this thread. But not now. Yesterday evening I sanded the seams on the intake. 052 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 053 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr Now I can continue paint the intake white on the inside. And I just had to try AKAN's acrylics Israeli colours to see how they would come out. 054 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I can live with this, so I'll continue using them on this build. To be continued..... /Bosse

Marlin
Hi, I've done some more work on my Netz. I've deceided to put a pilot in the cockpit this time. 055 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And he had enough room to go in without amputation of his legs. 056 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 057 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 058 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I'll give him his right arm this evening, and if I get it right he should be able to grip the stick. I've glued the air intake in place, but I used a bit too much pressure and got a step where the intake meets the fuselage. 059 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr So I've put some PPP on it and will sand it flush today. And I've glued the flare buckets on the belly in place. 060 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 061 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr 062 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I plan to glue the fuselage halves together later this evening, if I don't get "sick" of my second Covid jab I'll receive this afternoon. 💉 To be continued..... /Bosse
trickyrich
nice progress.... I bet your pilot was very happy to not have his legs chopped off!!! I still have a couple of weeks to wait for my second jab!! With the AZ shots they make you wait 12 weeks between shots.
Marlin
Thanks Rich. I bet he was I could have booked it two weeks ago, but I'm in no hurry, and I got Pfizers cocktail last time, so I guess that what I'm going to have today. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi, Yesterday when I got home from my second Covid-19 jab I went straight to the worktable and started working. Fighter jockey Mordechai got his right arm 063 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr And as the experienced fighter jockey he is, he grabbed the stick right away. When that was done I glued the cockpit to the upper part of the fuselage. 064 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr When that had set, I glued the fuselage halves together. 065 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr I've only glued the front two thirds of it, the bottom part is a bit warped so I'll let the front section set, and I'll glue the rest bit this evening. Then I'll leave it for some days to fully cure, and then it's time for the wing seams. Which if I remember correct it's a bit of a chore to get right. Some serious sanding and you don't have to use so much filler. Did I experience any side effects of my second jab? No, just a bit sore where the nurse put the needle. To be continued..... /Bosse
trickyrich
gee it looks like it needed a wee bit or persuasion to get it all together!
Marlin
Thanks @trickyrich. Yes as I said it's a bit warped. But I've had this problem before and if you don't try and glue the whole fuselage at once you can bend it into shape since the fuselage parts are rather flexible. I glued the aft parts together yesterday evening and I'll let them rest in clamps until tomorrow and I think it'll be all right. Must get the exhaust section in place before I start to sand the wing to fuselage joints. And I think I might be able to prime it on Sunday. /Bosse
