My models are built for me and to share with you guys - I don't belong to a club and wouldn't consider ever "competing". It's become my House style. As to space - good point - I've run out I have a single cabiinet and when it's full - something within gets bumped - my AFV models continue to diminsh The other reason for keeping Styrofoam bases is that they lend themselves to display within perspex cases. The Sherman on display is due for the chop, so i've just posted some pics in AFV RFI. I intend to model some "Minor war vessels" for a while partly due to the space issue. Thanks again ALL. Rob Rob, I'm astonished by what is shown in this photo. A man of your immense talents with such a modest display area. Are you serious that you will "bump" the RN warships you've been building recently as you complete more? Cheers, Ian

Rumblestripe
Can't take my eyes off the seascape. Stunning. I'm going to have to go back and look at the warship now! Bravo sir! Bravo!
Terry1954
What an absolutely superb result Rob, The ship itself is incredibly well executed to a level I can only aspire to achieve, but that seascape is just one of the best I've ever seen! What else can I say ..... awesome! Terry

Ken joy
So 99% of the time build armor. So today I thought I'd take peak at what you gentlemen are up to on the ship building side...I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! Between this and the Bismark build I opened first....WOW! The model itself is amazing, but the water is the best I've seen.
GrzeM
I love this model so much so I lurk here again and again 🙂 This time I've noticed how lightly armed the Calcutta during WWII was! Not many more barrels than the Hunt-class light escort destroyer!

Maginot
Splendid result. Great choice of less usual subject. Love the colour, depth and movement of the modelled sea.
Bertie McBoatface
I'm coming to realise that you ship modelling dudes are all rather good at it. Your skills range from god-like right down to absolutely amazing. I like this one very much, from the swell of the bow wave to the wave of the flag. No! Hold on a minute that officer hasn't fastened his tie properly! Truly great work Rob. I salute you. 1
Andrew J
I love the scene here for HMS Calcutta, particularly the officers on the bridge! Would be interested to hear more about your water technique? Seems like you carve your foam sheet and then use some product or glaze to make the seawater and foam? Thanks Andrew

Thanks Andrew Hi Andrew, Thanks for your kind comments. You're correct - carved stryrofoam with Liquitex "Gloss Medium & Varnish" rippled with cotton wool (inexpertly done) and AK Water foam. Finshed with 5-6 layers of Liquitex High Gloss varnish. There's more details throughout the build log - Best regards Rob
