Longbow
These showed up today for a possible Mk V build.
bigbadbadge
Great progress and looking good, just an extra bit to add to Alan's great idea for the prop, if you take off the locating pin just above the surface of the blade itself you will have be left with a slightly raised area to know whish way to orientate the blades and should slide through the holes in the spinner. I hope that makes sense. Chris 2

The chances of me messing up, far outweigh the chances of a successful finish. If I’m going to devolve into a slow train wreck, I’d rather it be on a $40 investment. The Bf 109 in the group build, and this Spit, are just for testing out new things, as I’ve always been primarily an Armor builder. I agree on the cost issue, and add that builds like this helps build up scratch building and other skills.

Longbow
Working on the tail wheel doors and assembly. I traced the outline of the curved doors in one piece, and cut a master in 10 thou card. Checking for fit and alignment, I adjusted as necessary onto a new piece of 10 thou. Once happy, this single piece was heat formed around a chop stick, overcompensating for the bend to take into account any spring left in the card. This formed piece was the cut down the center, to separate the two doors. Details will be added with strip.
Longbow
And.... Done. Let’s see how quick I can break them off. I cemented a piece of tube into the well, to take the wheel, once that’s ready.

Biggles87
There are lots of detail and correction sets ( not least Barracuda ) available for this kit but good for you for doing it yourself. The Revell 1/32 Spitfires are nice kits, the only things I really have a problems with are the cockpit ‘ floor ‘ which is too flat, and the riveted leading edges. You’ve sorted the leading edges and the shape of the ‘ floor ‘ is probably not too noticeable with everything in place. Good job. john

bigbadbadge
Looking good and nearly ready for paint. The Hobbyboss one is not too wide as the revell cockpit frames fit so it's the same width as the revell kit. The problem is that they have squashed it with a too rounded spine and the cockpit components are a bit wierd. I corrected one using plasticard rod for the spine and used some of the Revell cockpit parts along with aftermarket seat and details. Longbow
Canopy is masked for painting. Unfortunately I’m now in Meansville. Yup, the town is called Meansville.... Have to ask a newb question. Has anyone dipped a canopy After painting ? I may have scuffed it, masking.

Yes Ive dipped both before and after because of forgetfulness. It makes no difference other than giving you glossy paint. Longbow
Going to need a little filler and a slight sand, around the canopy. But nothing major. Have to say that I’m actually quite impressed with the fit of the Revell kit.

Longbow
I almost forgot to add the slipper tank hooks, which should actually belong to a Pz. III. They looked about right.
Longbow
Spinner is together. A little weathering should bring out the details.
