Spitfire Conversion. Revell 1/32 Spit IX to Aussie VIII.

Recommended Posts

We have paint, Finally !!

After going dark for the 109 build, I figured I’d go lighter with this one, as the weathering will darken things some.

I had to mix Vallejo paint, as I did not have an interior green.
So I just pulled pix off the web, and got as close as possible to a few I liked.
I figure being in the SEA theater, those Aussie spots would probably get quite messy, inside.

More later...

Have the same set in 1/72 nice options, any idea which one ?

Either the second or third, down.
I like the gray/green, but would probable go gray/green on a clipped wing V.

So it will most likely be the second one down...

I'm holding you personally responsible for this, and any flak I'll get for it, but I've just signed up to do a 109.....

Just hope no one from the "usual" section spots me flirting with things with a big fan up front! :bandit:

The Revell decal for the IP doesn't look too bad , when I did my HB Mk Vb I used a few of the Revell MkII cockpit bits to replace the rubbish HB cockpit plus scratch work and I used the decal and was really pleased with it.

Okay, after revisiting the IP, I have to say I’m not happy with it.
This will be put on hold, as I have a Mk IX and Mk IIa ordered for a Mk V build.

I’ll use the new IX panel, when that comes, and not drill it out, this time.

The IIa and rest of the IX parts will be used to convert the IIa to a Vc.

Thanks all for stopping by and looking in.

Well, I decided to take the Nuclear option with the IP, and figured it will do.
Rather than wait for the second kit.

I also scratched a harness while thinking about things.

Not a very good photo, I’m afraid...

Looking good so far,..... this is a nice kit and I did the same conversion when the kit first came out,....... here is a link if it is of interest? I found some pics of the real Spit `Havagojo' which came in useful when painting it included where to weather it;

Good luck with the model,

                                     Cheers
