Belkits Opel Manta 400 Andrews Heat for Hire .

Recommended Posts

My second build of the year and , I think , my most ambitious to date . When I bought the Andrews decals and decided to build the Manta I knew I was in for lots of masking and colour changes . However , I persevered and the the end result left me well pleased . The full build can be found here  …….

The kit went together really well , the decals less so and if I could change anything I would definitely buy the Renaissance lowering kit , as this is a tarmac car but it sits too high using the Belkits provided suspension setup . Anyway , pictures of the finished car .

And finally I have chosen some Group B rivals from the display cabinet . All from 1985 , how technology was moving on quickly .

As a car mad schoolboy , watching the Andrews Manta on TVs World of Sport got me into rallying and the man who ran the production company of those rally films sadly died recently ; Barrie Hinchcliffe . His film company also did the British Touring Cars for the BBC in the 90s .
Thanks for looking , comments welcomed

Lovely Manta Gary, really good looking build! Enjoyed watching it come together and thanks for the heads up on various bits of the kit that aren't quite right - will be very useful when I get round to mine.

Top job!

This is a very challenging scheme to pull off Gary but you nailed it mate 👍. You should be proud of your work as not many people go for this scheme due to it's complexity but you've proved it can be done and done very well indeed. One of my favourite builds I've seen on here and one I'd gladly have in my collection 🙂👍. Right that's enough praise now it's time to crack on with the next one 😉👍

It's been good watching this one come together. Definitely a paint job and a half though, but a great end result. Well worth pushing yourself on the build - not only a good result but some skills to take forward to the next one.

That's a nice build, I remember seeing the real thing on the Kenmore Forrest stage back in the day.  I think your comment about the lowering kit is spot on too, the Model looks to ride just a bit too high.

Tarmac rally Mantas were very low , especially at the rear . Thanks for your interest .

As an ex-rally/race marshal I remember most of Russell Brookes cars, looks very good, well done.

Cracking result, especially with that paint scheme. I've enjoyed following along with the Work In Progress for this one. It's nice to see something a little more uncommon being built. I am curious what kit you'll build next.
