Xtrakit 1/72 Supermarine Scimitar F.1

Recommended Posts

I think its a beautiful job on a model that is best regarded as "Scimitar-Shaped", and it will serve as a good placeholder until Airfix or somebody gets their act together and renders it properly. Same goes for the Sea Vixen.

I've finally got round to adding the four pylons and external fuel tanks. I've made them clip on/off as external stores were not carried during the Team's aerobatic displays.

The kits' pylons sloped down too much at the front, so all four needed correcting and matching to the other three. The kit's decals (the red stripes on each tank) were an absolute nightmare, sticking like glue when first applied, and breaking up if pressure was applied to move them. So there is a lot of red paint in those 12 stripes!

Nice work, you did a handsome job, these things swap hands on evil bay for silly money now.

I had a fight with one a few years ago, given time it can be made to look ok.
