1/72 F/A-18C Hornet NATO Tiger Meet 2011

Recommended Posts

Hello,

for the "acryl mounted inflight model" lovers and all the others too, i want to share these pictures of my tiger meet legacy hornet. It´s the 1/72 kit from Academy with decals from Syhart. Finished this in february 2021.

Not the best pictures but here they are. First the kit only:

The kit is mounted on a ("do it yourself") painted picture of some mountains, inspired by the Axalp events of the swiss air force.

I was tempted to make something like this with a display team theme and you've really convinced me it's the right thing to do!

Firstly - the model is f ing stunning. You weathering is so brutally real. It provides a real contrast against the backdrop - especially with the display/tiger scheme present.

The 'diy' mountain picture mounting iis superb. How did you get it to mount without any large holes? It looks like it was *made* that way!

Thanks for your comments.

@MsModeller

I thought about it some time to use a photo or a painting as backdrop and came to the same conclusion, that the painting is the better contrast.

The painting canvas is wrapped around a 18mm wooden panel. The panel holds the two acryl rods very good and the 1/72 model kit is only a minor load. To mount it on the wall, you can use a shelf or a picture frame mounting.
