Back in the Saddle Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 My entry from the 'Africa' GB - the 1/48 Airfix Curtiss Tomahawk Mk.II. The build thread is here if you want to see it coming together. Completely OOB, except for some Tamiya tape seat belts. A fun build and a chance to use my sand weathering wash! Here are the pictures: My one issue during this build was the opacity of the paint on the canopy - it is the same colour as the fuselage, but light was seeping through I and making it look pale. I added some thinned dark brown paint, but could not quite match the colour on the airframe... As ever, comments and criticism welcomed! 17 1
Rabbit Leader Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Thats come up really well Matt. I like the light weathering and the sand wash is really effective and appropriate for this build. I’ve not seen a bad 1/48 Airfix Tomahawk yet, so must get one for my own collection. Cheers and well modelled.. Dave 1

If you didn't spray the interior color on the canopy framework when you masked it, before painting the exterior color, that would account for the see-through effect. Beautiful Tomahawk, though! Mike

Dunny Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Lovely work Matt - the finish and weathering is spot on! Cheers, Roger 1
