Some preparation of the parts, before I start construction.

02-Painted-Parts.jpg

For this specific aircraft, I'll have to move the rear seat hole forwards, and face it rearwards.  Shorten the canopy, and fit a rear gun leftover from a Dauntless.

Install a crew - if I can find correct figures. And fit the underwinng guns.

There,  I have a plan.

Hey Surgeon, welcome to the Group Build... we can all sense that you're suffering withdrawal symptoms from not building a Texan or Harvard since last year! 🙂

Your stable of Texans/Harvards looks fantastic! That's a great subject you've chosen. Wirraways were sub-killers too.

and up onto her pins.  Prop fitted.  That tall Dauntless style mast ahead of the cockpit is to move the aerial wire away from the machine gun.

Another look underneath.

For this kit, I couldn't find undercarriage doors.  Ironicly, for my previous build - they weren't fitted.

Anyway, fabricated from some backing sheet from one of my recent VacForms.

AND fitting of a gun brings this build to completion.

I had to laugh about the U/C doors, I had the same issue on my build. Where did I put those pesky doors? Well, I checked on the instructions and another set of sprues, and realised the Heller T6-G kit does not include the doors. So we didn't lose them! We're not going mad after all.

My solution was to purloin the U/C doors from the BrenGun Wirraway photo-etch set. There are a lot of problems with that set, but the U/C doors sure are nice!
