Evening all,I had a rummage among the paints and had a go at mixing the slate gray which turned out OK so two coats and drying

nicely now.

So many Beauforts being built up, seems Airfix are onto a real winner here. Looks great Steve, that's a nice smooth base coat you've applied there.

Cheers.. Dave

Looks the business now Steve. This glossy / decal stage is my favourite modelling moment, then we muck it all up by applying weathering and matting it down

Cheers.. Dave

Looks great Steve.  Just one thing. Are you going to paint the front oh the Cowellings that bronze colour. The reason I noticed is I'm about to do 3 sets of Cowellings with it.

Please do not paint the collector ring bronze. It was heat-stained steel. Paint it something like this:

Yes I'm aware of that issue. It was the closest colour I could think of at the time.

Any tips on how to achieve the realistic finish. I do struggle with it.

No, not really. I do have a couple ideas. I have these Tamiya Weathering sets, that I will use over various metallic paints.

My various metallic paints:

I'm sure I could come up with something that would look better than just overall bronze.

Chris has posted some great images so I'll be having a practice over the weekend Greg.

  • 2 weeks later...

hi folks,a mix of silver and dark earth dry brushed on the after the tape was removed and a bit of touching up a very dry brush of

nato black to dull the shine I think once under matt coat should look fine.
