gamevender Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 I got a hold of the Revell re-release of the Renwal kit of this ship. Shows it's age, of course, but my main question is regarding the forward superstructure. If assembled as per the instructions, the whole part seems to lean forward quite a bit to the degree that the ladder molded into the side would be unclimbable. I though perhaps it was to compensate for a curve in the deck that is present in many ships, but there is no curve. Is this lean correct or a problem that needs to be fixed?
davecov Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 I have never built this model but from a quick look at a completed one, the hull seems to lack the right amount of sheer. The hull aft appears too high which means the bow looks too low and the upper deck looks flat. Here is USS King later on in her career and the sheer is obvious. Dave
gamevender Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 Agree on the hull problem, but why would Renwal mold the superstructure to accommodate such sheer if there was none in their version? Just seems odd.
davecov Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Sounds like the left hand not knowing what the right is doing in the design department. Looking at reviews of other Renwal kits, it appears they are full of inaccuracies too. Dave
