Airfix 1/72 Ju 52

Recommended Posts

Nice piece of work.  I built this when it was first released, built it as a floatplane, and oh! the problems I had getting the markings to stay on the corrugated surfaces!  I was quite young and didn't know about varnishes and things :(

Looks great before the backdrop with the gunner exposed. Despite its ubiquity the Ju is a relatively rare model. Nice to see one so well modelled!

Great work on your Ju 52, Ratch -

Brings back memories - a shame you still don't get a display stand in the kit anymore ......

Regards

Dave

Yes it is Dave, but those old clear ones get very brittle - I've lost count of how many I've broken

That's a cracking 52 Ratch can't remember ever building Airfix's kit mind.

I'd built this one about 30 years ago. I'd been to Duxford and tried to copy theirs.

It has long since passed to the great granulator in the sky 😪

Nicely done, came out very sharp. Following you on Flickr and here hopefully too. 1/72 scale? What color plastic is yours molded in?

Very nice model.

The first thoughts that came to mind when I saw your pictures were of the opening sequence from Where Eagles Dare, which I last saw perhaps 30 years ago.  Reading the comments, I found I was not alone in that!

Cheers

I won't be using the kit decals, I have ordered Print Scale decal sheet PSL72075.

Great looking Ju 52.  Don't you know the top gunner exposed to the elements really enjoyed Russian winters.  Great work on the gunner by the way.  Thanks for sharing this build.

Ah hah, cool! Thanks!

I recently learned that my white plastic MPC kit is a descendant of the Airfix kit. Whooda thunk? Pretty neat how kits get around. I never saw Where Eagles Dare but I need to get off my duff and watch it after seeing your finished model. I hear Clint Eastwood was in it.
