GREG DESTEC
Good afternoon all, More progress on the 109..... I have reached the final stages now and i am looking to add all the wee decals, then the breakable bits such as wheels and aerials. I have enjoyed this kit as it has been challenging in places, not helped by Revells insistance on having 6 parts instead of two such as the undercarriage legs but it has still been enjoyable. Don't look too closely at the spiral on the spinner i had to try painting it myself as the kir decal defeated me. The petals of the tulip markings were hard enough but went on ok with a bit of touch up with black paint. Next week should see her in the gallery. TFL cheers Greg

GREG DESTEC
Finally, I am finished! Life, work, mojo prevented me finishing earlier. The last hurdle was frustrating as i hoped to have the canopy closed, but i couldn't get it to fit so i had to replace the attachment tabs i had removed and fudge it into place. No tail crooked cross with the kit for the usual reasons and i don't have spares so it doesn't have one, but should have. This is reputedly Hartman's last 109, which if being the case was destroyed by him and his ground crew as they evacuated their positions in front of the Russian advance (according to the book). Shortly therafter JG52 surrendered to American forces but were handed to the Russians therafter. Hartman and his comrades then spent the next 10 years in captivity. This part of his story is qite harrowing and he was put under intense pressure to take part in Russian propaganda against the West and they tried to coerce him into spying on his comrades. He of course refused and spent days and weeks in isolation. From the book is is protraid as a very moral and upstanding character. Anyway here are a couple of shots of the 109, more in the gallery. Thanks for looking, cheers!

jean
Hi Greg, this 109 is very big, very well built, very well painted and very beautiful! All the boxes are ticked. Painting a spiral by end on a spinner is not my idea of fun, but you did really well. Congratulations! JR
