I've got a bit of a dilemma guy's , I don't know whether to leave the deck a wood colour , or leave it off and just paint the deck dk blue . 

I really don't trust the glue on the back of the wood deck , and if I paint or stain it , I feel it will start letting go , what do you blokes think ?

I have similar concerns Steve, but I assume if done fine enough (multiple light coats) it will be ok. I'd guess painting it unattached and if the glue has gone bad you can add glue yourself prior to attaching.

well david , I did as suggested , turned out a treat , woke up next day bubbles everywhere, at least half had come off . trying to get it back down I made a mess off it , ended up taking the lot of and painting the plastic deck , ah well, live and learn , next time I wont trust the glue , I'll wood glue it down.

Sorry to hear that Steve, but the painted deck looks good too.

 

I like the colour tone of your anchor chains. Are they burnished in some way?

yeah guy , they were brass and i dipped them in birchwood brass black finish .

sorry I haven't been posting guys , but I'm back on it now .

thanks for that link iceman , that chain looks the goods .

made up the pontos crane controls , before and after pics , and in position .

 

most of the decks bits and pieces are mostly done .

Looking very good so far, I'll confess I've stayed clear of American ships as I wasnt keen on  the idea of a blue deck but seeing it on yours I feel a but sheepish and will have to look one out, itd make a nice point of difference in a display, 

 

All looking very tidy imo, would you mind doing a full length shot soon for an idea of her overall size?

Morning Steve, quite agree on the decks, it why the North Carolina was added to the stash. I can now see why the tub of vaseline is needed, you'd never get it out the modelling room without.

had a laugh at that david , the vaseline is for the paint brushes , keeps them in shape . not sure about the victory , done it twice , looking to kit bash it into something else , not sure what yet .

I've been looking for this (in the smaller sizes) for months after @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies highlighted it but it seems that it's out of stock everywhere and I wondered if YX had stopped making it and simply hadn't updated their website?

there are 2 of these radar units ,  made a complete hash of , took forever to make it presentable , after paint should be okay .
