Sturmovik
Hello and welcome to my most recent WIP thread, I'll try to update it as frequently as possible. This thread is dedicated to one of Germany's nighfighter aces, Prinz Heinrich zu Sayn Wittgenstein. He was born in 1916 and died in 1944. During his career with the Luftwaffe's night fighter arm, he was credited with a total of 83 victories. This isn't the first time I've built ICM's Ju 88C-6b, so I know what I should and what I shouldn't do. The first build showed me the cockpit and the wing roots were a perfect fit, but the installation of the wings to the centre wing section was difficult. I also found out that, by attaching the engines to the landing gear bulkheads, they wouldn't let me close the engine nacelles, leaving huge gaps. So I plan to leave the engines out and glue the landing gear bulkheads and radiator faces. The exhausts will be left out too (I'll glue the flame dampers, so they won't be seen anyway) and the propellers will be glued directly to the radiator faces. I also discovered that ICM decals only give you one chance to place them right onto the model's surface, so I asked Far South Models to make me two sets of decals for this pilot's Ju 88C-6b. Now, onto the photos. All the parts come inside a single bag with a sticky lid. The kit doesn't come with Swastikas, so I'll be adding two from Dukel Hobbies's set. dov
The cockpit has some major errors! Look, the rear section, the floor is much too low! ICM did a rape in the Ju 88 with this error! Happy modelling

Sturmovik
After I finished building my Bf 109G-6 in 32nd, it's time I get on with this one. Progress has been fast, I already have the aircraft ready for painting (still waiting for the decals). However, I'll be uploading the photos of the early stages of the aircraft. Right hand sidewall: Left hand sidewall: Not much more to share for now. Edited June 12, 2021 by Sturmovik
Sturmovik
Some more progress. So far so good. As always, since I find it boring, I won't be filling and sanding the surface.
Hook
Looking good so far! Cheers, Andre
Sturmovik
Some more progress on the 88. Pilot's seat and rudder pedald have been glued. I painted the pedals in aluminium to give the cockpit a bit more colour. And here's the cockpit floor ready to be glued to the fuselage.
Sturmovik
Tail and horizontal stabilizers glued to the 88. These feature big tabs, and have plenty of surface for the glue to grab on. And, wings glued. These two were challenging because of the way they were engineered. Instead of having two big tabs to support the wings, and a solid face in which to glue the roots, the gluing surface is formed of two small lips and the root of the lower wing, which made difficult to get a solid join.
Sturmovik
Landing gear installed. Compared to the Revell Ju 88 in 32nd, the build instructions for the gear of the ICM kit is very clear (as everything in their instructions). Here's one nacelle without the engine firewall. I had to leave it off the model, or else the nacelle wouldn't have fitted into place. And here is a photo of the aircraft with both nacelles installed. Imagine my face when I discovered one of the radiator faces had been glued upside down. I had to open up the engine (IE force it open, almost braking it) in order to correct my mistake. And this is the first painting stage, the propellers. Since they don't have a prop shaft due to the missing engines, they'll be glued into the empty holes of the radiator faces. Sturmovik
Final progress of the day in the shape of the lower gondola. The kit has been painted in RLM 76 uppers and RLM 22 lowers. The mottling is in RLM 74.
Sturmovik
I spent some time today decalling the aircraft. The first time I built this aircraft, the decals refused to move when applied into the surface, so I asked Far South models to make me two sets of transfers for this project. I wasn't very pleased with these decals (the lettera were transparent), so I used the tally, numbers and emblems of the NJG squadrons. Rest of the decals came from an Xtradecals sheet, the kit and Dukel Hobbies. Here you can see the Far South models decals: And here you can see the kit ones: Gondola glued: Propellers and gear doors attached: Antennas glued: That's all for today guys, next post will be in the RFI section :3
