Sherman cast hull texture

As part of a 'job lot' I purchased recently, there was an Italeri 1/35 M4A1 Sherman. There are virtually no textures to the hull or turret. Looking at reference photos it appears that some were quite 'smooth' with just the odd ripple etc. Is it worth stippling on Mr Surfacer 500 or should I leave it as stock?

There is one thing to remember. Shermans are not T-34s. By that I mean that M4 cast hulls were no where near as rough cast as the Soviet tanks. Some places on the hull are more rough than other parts, such as the curve of the hull where it slopes down to the sides. Some parts of the turret display casting texture, but again, not that much. If you want to depict casting, then you can use the stippling method, but I would suggest that once it's hardened, give it a light sanding with some wet and dry.

I built this kit some years ago and didn't add any casting texture. For me, the matt finish at the end of the build was sufficient.
