I've built four so far, all in 144th scale of course 😁

spacer.png

The Zurich Airshow 1937 with a Bf109B displayed next to the new Czech Avia B.534. My first 109 and from the Amory kit

My second 109B ended up in Spanish Civil War scheme

And in a small orchard airstrip somewhere in Northern Spain

spacer.png

From the lovely Sweet Bf109 F-4 kit, the Marsailles plane and his Kubelwagen. (I need to rebase this sadly the clay filling has shrunk over time)

spacer.png

My most recent was this G-10 that has just been captured by Soviet forces in 1945 and posing for a propaganda photo.

spacer.png

Unfortunately the soldiers were so ugly, Stalin almost had a heart attack and had the photos destroyed and the photographer sent to a gulag.

My 109 Squadron if you will, first up is Hauptmann Werner Moelders Bf.109D1 1938 Spain. It is an 1/72 Heller Bf.109 slightly modified from a B/C.
5kQUPhl.jpg

Next is another Heller as a Swiss 109D in 1940. The only decals are the codes, everything was masked and painted. ggb8lUC.jpg

Next up is the 1/48 Hasegawa E1 kit built as E3 Weiss 1 II/Jg.51 4th StaffelKapitān Josef Fözö in the B.o.B. 7qPhdlC.jpg

Followed by the 1/72 Airfix done as Josef Prillers Weiss 8 109E-7 Jg.26  early 1941. pNkH1nW.jpg

Eduard Bf.109G6 late w/tall tail and blown Galland hood, “Schwarz 4” from Jg.53 “Pik As” Balkans 1944. OkMMR5f.jpg

Eduard Bf.109G10 MTT Regensburg High altitude fighter/Night fighter ? JG300/NJG.11 unknown # April 1945. The question marks are due to the fact Ive seen the plane accredited to both units in different sources. 0GLK6WY.jpg

Another Eduard Bf.109G10 white 44 this time it is the WNF Diana variant, in Yugoslavian air force markings 1950. AubO2rM.jpg

Last up is an 1/72 AZ Bf.109G6 in Finnish Air Force war game markings 1950.fpznUUx.jpg

I only have about a dozen more different camouflage and model types that I’d like to build. But for now this is all that is done.

Airfix 1/72 E-4 that I did for the Christmas Blitzenbuild.

Rall's Gustav from the Eastern Front, 1942, in 1/48 from Hobby Boss.

Airfix 1/48 E-4.  This is the second model kit I built after a gap of thirty-odd years.

All of the above were brush-painted and look like it, but I'm quite pleased with them in a way.

Here's my 109 collection, all 1/72.

Firstly, the Daddy of them all, the 109V1 from the MPM kit.

Heller's Bf 109B, as a Spanish Civil War aircraft:

A Battle of Britain formation of Airfix Emils:

Another Airfix Emil from the North African campaign:

A Swiss Gustav from the Airfix kit:

KP provided 2 Avias, a S.199, and a CS.199:

And finally, the 109's last hurrah, a Hispano Aviacion HA-1112-M1L Buchon in a fictitious Luftwaffe livery for the Battle of Britain movie. I don't remember whether this was a MPM or Special Hobby kit-but

since both brands are from the same firm, does it really matter?!:

This is the 1/72 Airfix kit that I built last year for the BoB GB.

Von Werra E-4, that I had wanted to build for a long time, as I am a JG 3 fan.

Bf 109 E-4 Photo 42

If truth be told, I am excited to build another Emil.

Here's something for the perspi... inspiration gallery. Not inspiring for all you out there or historically significant for the mankind, but for me? Yes. This was my build in the first Bf 109 STGB a little over eight years ago, and it was my first posted build at Britmodeller forum. See, I was a group builder from the beginning! That was about a year and a half after I had returned to this hobby of ours, and this was probably the third model I built. Since then it has taken some hits and lost some parts, like the landing gear and a prop blade. I don´t intend to correct any mistakes I've done with the kit, but I believe it deserves a restoration with a new prop and legs, that I should all find in my spares box. Plan B is to put her on a stand, legs up and no prop blades at all :hmmm:. That sounds quite good, actually.

It´s the old Heller G-2/5/6 kit, btw, with InScale 72 decals, pre-RLM specific Humbrol enamels scratchbuilt gun barrels. V-P

Firstly, my Academy 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf109E

Capt Hans Von Hahn, JG3, France 1940.  TatzelWurm on the yellow nose.

Then my Airfix 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf109E, The One That Got Away,

Airfix-Messerschmitt-Bf109-E-FS.jpg

Finally, a Heller 1/72 Bf109E,  at the moment of having its tail knocked off in a ramming by Ken Mackenzie's Hurricane.

As some may know, I'm a volunteer at Jet Age Museum, Staverton - where we have a film prop replica of Hurricane V6799.

Signed by Wing Commander Ken Mackenzie, who was a member of Jet Age until his death in 2009 aged 92.

A moment that's damatised on the boxart of the Airfix 1/48 Hurricane I.

Here are a few 109's that I have built since returning to the hobby, starting with a pair of 1/144 Bf 109G-4's from Mark1 Model - the Tropical version being my most recent finish, shown here alongside two 109E's from Armory.

Moving up in scale, here are a couple of Airfix 1/72 kits, Karl Wolff's Yellow 15 Bf 109E-3 was built for the Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary GB, and as you can see the ravages of time have taken their toll with the mast requiring repair/replacement - not helped by the mono-filament rigged aerial. I built the G-6 because Red 13 had an unusual camouflage pattern.

My last offering is this 1/48 Tamiya kit which was one of my first builds after a visit to the IPMS show at Donnington when I got back into modelling many years ago now. It was brush painted with Aeromaster Acrylics and  IIRC it was a new range of paint at that time.

Airfix Bf109 E4 IIIJG/53 Battle of Britain. The omission of the swastikas is deliberate. On discovering they the Gruppes leader had married a Jewish woman Goering ordered that the Pik Aus badge be overpainted with a red stripe and as a (brave) counter protest a number of the pilots had their swastikas overpainted.

resized_a4824d25-b1b5-4caf-8444-e1c663c3Me 109 TL Jaeger. In 1943 the RLM approached Messerschmitt with the idea of a jet powered 109. It never made it past the drawing board as Messerschmitt was overloaded and  preferred to develop the P1101 as a single engine  jet fighter. The concept was developed by Focke Wolf and saw the light of day in several Russian designs.
