Royal Navy looking at AI use in submarines

Interesting news article on the BBC web site.  It looks a long way off from being a workable tool but early days.  I do rather agree with the RN officer who is quoted as saying:-

" AI will struggle to match human decision-making skills. There are lots of submariners skills you can transfer to it, but you have to accept that the first generation will not be perfect."

 

If the algorithms of the financial institutions are anything to go by AI is a long way from A1.  I can see some basic uses though where you might not want to put humans in harms way.
