As soon as I saw this I knew I was walking out with it , only went in for a bottle of paint as well !!!

Very crisply moulded and appears to be from 2017.

I had seen this trick done before so I thought I would have a go , dipped a toothpick in a puddle of liquid superglue to recreate the dial lenses , seems to be effective !!!

Primer time , used mr surfacer 1000 grey , wet sanded it and then used mr surfacer 1500 in black….

Bit limited for colour unless I buy more paint but I quite like the look of this , mr aqueous 88 metallic blue , thinned 50/50 with mr levelling thinner , 5 light coats for now , sprayed in opposite directions for each coat…..

Got to agree that's a good colour for this type of car. Looks as though you've made a good start. Shame you got attacked by the dust monster, but happily (and it must be said quite unusually) it seems to be in places which you ought to be able to polish out reasonably easily.

Thanks , yeah , I’ll leave it a few days and gently attack it with my weapon of choice , a piece of worn out 3000 sanding sponge 🤣

That's tidied up really well - I'd say it ill look really striking (in a good way) when finished.

The fates dealt their revenge on me today for mentioning the dust monster - mid spray today's item (an interior) had the CA bond to its BBQ skewer fail dumping it on the floor of the spray box.

All sorted thanks, I had another look this morning and had really lucked out (and it was primer so not so bad) - it had landed on a bit which was easy to sand back and which won't really be visible so easily fixed.

Great result on the surrounds.  Out of curiosity is that just wide masking tape you used, or something a bit more specialist?  - Andy

I masked with 2mm Tamiya yellow tape , the big stuff is Prodec advance precision edge , Amazon iirc but I’m confident that the likes of b&q etc stock it , I’ll definitely be getting another roll for around £5 👍

Found it on the Toolstation website - 3 quid for 50m x 24mm

Cheers,

Alan.

So, did a test fit of the body on the chassis and was distinctly unimpressed with the ride height, so what do you do, fire up the 3D resin printer and make some more suitable ones 🤣

 Best modelling investment ever 👍
