Excellent tiny details!

That is looking good even like that, far better than I'd have expected from this kit. Certainly a huge amount better than my first effort 50 some years ago. :)

Many thanks JD and Steve, it’s been fun mucking about with what is, if I’m honest, fairly fictitious stowage. Very nearly there for primer, I’ve just got to adjust the starboard tarpaulin/bedroll. There’s also a sneak preview of another addition port side. Too hot in the attic this afternoon to fiddle with tiny parts but I might get finished off tomorrow morning.

Hi Avereda. Wow! You really have made impressive progress with this project! I can't wait to see it with some paint going on.

Kind regards,

Stix

Thank you kindly. Very nearly there with the paint, I think is definitely going to be it for the stowage and other scratched extras. A bit of a mish-mash and the straps for the fuel drum are way over scale but I’m fairly happy with it at the moment.

And so you should be! It's all looking rather spledid! I like the work you have done with the stowage and extras. It will really bring it to life.

Kind regards,

Stix

Primer time. Mr Surfacer 1200 Grey thinned roughly 50:50 with Mr Color Levelling Thinners. I normally use the black stuff but I didn’t think I’d be able to spot the flaws at this scale. A few bits to tidy up, another coat of primer and then I think we can start talking colour ( I’m beginning to sound like my wife’s hairdresser).

To match my mood and yesterday’s weather…(it’s been a frustrating couple of days trying to sort a start date out for a new job)…black.

Swings and roundabouts, the slip in job start date means this has a better chance of making the GB gallery and that’s the important thing, right?

I seem to have hit a rare, rich modelling vein. A bit of post-housework pre-shade.

Followed by some colour, a mix to roughly match Vallejo 71.223. I’m heartened by the fact the whole thing hasn’t reverted to the kit’s plastic colour. Some lighter green to follow.

Most kind chaps. I’m prevaricating over some additional highlights, I’ve already mixed the colour so I’ll probably have a go. Alternatively, I could plough on with the details, decals and weathering - I’ll see how the mood takes me over the weekend.

The Airfix T34 has never looked so good!

Adrian, you’re my guru when it comes to reviving these old Airfix models so that’s much appreciated.

There has been a bit more work, I sprayed a lighter coat but slightly overdid it. I’m hoping the weathering process will darken things suitably.

After that it was time for some detail painting (there needs to be more work on the “wood”), transfers and a little acrylic weathering - this will followed by some oil weathering once I get a gloss coat on.

I’ll need to get a shift on as I’m back in the world of employment on August 23rd and I won’t have a great deal of spare time until I settle into some sort of routine.

Thanks again, nearly there now. Rusted and dusted last week and I’ve just finished muddying (still drying in the photos). I should be able to varnish at the weekend then I’ll try and get some gallery shots done.

Be very proud of that John, very cool.

Very kind JD, it’s been a fine GB. A few pre-gallery shots.

Looking a bit WOW for an old Airfix jobby. I'm liking it. 👍

What he said! Can't believe it comes from the same lineup as the old Sherman and Panther. Great modelling!

Adrian

Thanks again Adrian, the old Panther’s on my to-do list next year so you may yet see it on here. A Heller Sherman is up next in the French Fancy GB (I’m looking after aftermarket rather than scratch built extras for this one though). I may also have a crack at the old Airfix Mk.I male tank shortly unless I decide to save it for a GB. I think I may have found my modelling thing, very small, old tanks.

Doesn't the Panther need the suspension resetting because the preserved one they measured it from had collapsed suspension? It seems to be the most reviled Airfix tank.

It looked fine to me when I made one in my early teens.. :)

Adrian

If you hadn’t have told me, I’d never have known.

Hi Avereda. That really did turn out beautifully for an old Airfix classic!! Lovely finish and it looks superb in the Gallery! Very well done.

Thank you for building it in this GB.

Kind regards,

Stix
