Alex Gordon
G'day Chums, may I present for your delectation my take on the new tool Airfix 1/48th scale Hurricane. The paint is Xtracolour and Humbrol, the mainwheels are from the Ark kit and the Sutton Harness is painted masking tape.I didn't enjoy this one.I had to thin the wing and the aileron trailing edges by rather a lot, there was a large step at the leading edge to fuselage underside joint which took some sorting out,the tyres were far too large and the fuselage is too long. It's a shame about those flaws because the innards just fell together and the fit most of the way round was very good. I nearly got it right. Thanks all for looking in. Edited March 26, 2022 by Alex Gordon Reworking Village Photo URLs. 28

Troy Smith
looks fab, this was the one you added the fuselage/wing fillet too? The worn paint on the back of the prop blades is a great detail touch! (note the reference pic)....but you missed the mirror
Alex Gordon
Thanks to all who looked in. @Troy Smith yes, that's the one.The propellor blade wear is just visible in the reference photo and was refined using this photo from the IWM.The mirror isn't included in the kit and I wasn't going to plunder the one in the Ark Models kit,it's going to be used . I didn't put the handles on the canopy either,I thought about it but I'd lost enthusiasm for this one by then.
StarWarsModeler
Interesting camouflage on the edge of the wing, what was the purpose of that?

For many years this was interpreted as 'Italian' and show as sand with green squiggles, (a lot of old profiles show this) but further research and images shows aluminium paint as the base, and diary description of blue and purple. It was also seen on some Fulmars. This should tell you more, it rambles on but there are photos. 1 hour ago, Alex Gordon said: The mirror isn't included in the kit this from the scratch build king.... your resting on your laurels now Look forward to seeing how you got on with the Ark! cheers T T

Newbie(kinda)
Well, I'M looking at those B&W photos of the real aircraft and your model and thinking, he's absobloodylutely NAILED that (soo love the prop detail btw!). Can't wait to see a build you actually enjoyed. Awesome work. You might not. But I love it.
