The Shackleton - a 2001-inspired kitbash

Recommended Posts

Here is the Shackleton, a kitbash using many bits from my spares box. Probably need to add more weathering and sort a couple of bits out, but I'm calling it done.

I should pop in here more often, that looks fantastic and inspires me to watch some classic scifi for the perfect Sunday afternoon. 2001, the black hole, event horizon even sunshine.

Very nice.

Wouldn't look out of place in The Expanse either.

Funnily enough I was rewatching the Expanse while I was building it!

Thanks all for the kind words, my weathering tends to be overly done as I get eager to finish when I get to that point :)

Well, I like the weathering. The markings on the main dish look great too.

Is that relatives of Huey, Dewey & Louie on the spine?

A Great kitbash, and one for the front of the display shelf.

Now you'll have to restock the spares box!

That is very cool!

I’m going to have to do some of this Sci-Fi stuff one day. 👍

If you make up your own stuff, nobody can tell you that you are doing it wrong! :)

I cant believe I missed this one.

That's " AWSOME" !!!

I'm with Pete in Lincs, .. it reminds me of the film  Silent Running.

The Vally Forge was a long spindly ship too.

NICE JOB  !!!!!!!!

Thanks - that was intentional, I wanted an homage to 2001, Silent Running and other 1970s "hard" sci-fi films and series. Glad you like it.

I was searching for some other "Shackleton" action, and came across this beauty- really great looking model, I can just imagine it featuring in a slow tracking shot against a starry backdrop. Top work!
