Operation Granby...1/48 Sepecat Jaguar GR.1A, RAF

Recommended Posts

The instructions call for adding nose weight but don´t mention how much.

Does anybody know if nose weight is really neccessary? Not much free space in the kit´s nose.

after a lot of sanding the nose halves are closed around the cockpit tub

btw, if you wanna display the canopy closed you have to remove a bit of the seat´s bottom or else the canopy won´t close

I had the same issue with my KH SuE. The gunsight and part of the coaming weren't letting me fit the windscreen, so they had to go.

Why didn't KH see that problem when building the prototype model?

Yours is coming along pretty well. Did you glue the nose weight?

the kit continues to be a PITA, and as far as I´ve read it´s going to be until the end

nothing really fits good, you always have to dry-fit the parts, lots of sanidng and cutting

added the IB cover and the gun covers, especially the latter ones didn´t fit good in the lower area

the main landing gear is fun, part numbers in the instructions are mixed up or wrong so you have to be very attentive

Looking great so far!

Modern excursion should be the Norm though uf you ask me

Be careful with the loadout! It is nearly entirely French or not suitable at all...incl. pylons!

really? Kitty Hawk messed that up too?

my dad´s mojo with this kit is already low, then I think he will put this kit aside soon....

should he do that, a Su-22 is already in waiting position 😉

Do not bin it!

Just be careful what you load it with!

Sure you have a full stash of appropriate weapons ;)

The pylon tips need to be made blunter as far as I understand, check some photos!

Granby meas overwing Sidewinders, 1000lb bombs or clusters on tandem pylons or directly to the pylon and a center tank + 2 ECM pods usually.

Not fully sure what it comes with oob  out of my head...

:(

the kit is designed to keep all access panels etc. open, when you want to display all closed, it needs some sanding, cutting to make things fit

fun to play with PE inserts, sadly no plastic part alternative

there are aftermarket exhausts from reskit but they cost between 16 an 20 Euros..

oh wonder....the airintake parts don´t fit well either...

there are also aftermarket parts available

First up, if you don´t already know it, Kitty Hawk/Panda Models are closing down, so if you still want some of their models, hurry up.

My dad didn´t give up....yet 😄

exhaust area painted metallic

interesting, one exhaust cover fits more or less, the other not so

Sadly, some of Kitty Hawks detail was lacking. They did goo stuff i the detail but the instructions etc left something to be desired. I had shads of different departments fighting against each other!

It's a shame because they had in essence a lot going for them!
