Roman Schilhart
Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 Tamiya Mosquito Mk.XVII night fighter. I built from the box, with the addition of True Details resin wheels, Master metal pitot tube, and Albion Alloys steel wire to replace the wing antennas. Painted with Gunze/Mr Hobby acrylics, pictures by Wolfgang Rabel. Both Airfix and Special Hobby have announced the release of new 1/72 Mosquito variants in 2021. Time to clear my stash in order to make room for the upcoming kits! Thank you for your interest! Best greetings from Vienna. 50

Dave Swindell
Lovely model Roman, pity about those "True Detail" wheels though - no brakes! Early mosquitos had a brake drum on the starboard side of the wheel, later mosquitos had brake drums both sides (including the mkXVII) The spoked wheel hub was therefore only visible on the port side of the wheel on early mosquitos as the brake drum covered the hub.

Thank you very much for feedback, Dave. I have been looking at original pictures, but obviously missed the wheel-hub detail. This is especially annoying because I would have had Brengun resin wheels with the correct hubs in stash!

The Mosquito is one of my favourite planes and the wheel hub thing is something I tend to spot without really looking, plus people often refer to plain hubs when they're actually talking about the brake drums. I think the Tamiya kit wheels are quite a good representation, just needing a flat on the bottom for a bit of weighted effect.

Winenut
Lovely work again Roman I have this in the stash and look forward to building it The bulbous nose makes it not the most "beautiful" of the Mossie variants but an important variant nonetheless! I like how you have paid attention to not applying silver "chipping" weathering to the wooden surfaces. Great build and finish Cheers Bruce
