fubar57
The newest Mk.I kit with the fuel tank cover and landing gear issues. I had to add the padded headrest as per the photo, made from a piece of round sprue tree. Other than that, a great kit. This is WZ⦿H of 19 Squadron, Duxford, 4th May 1939. Innards were painted with Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green. Masking tape harnesses. The bottom was painted with Tamiya XF-69 Nato Black and Vallejo Surface Primer – White. Note the long area of white that needed to be masked off and when painting was done and the tape removed, no paint lift. Upper colours were done with Tamiya XF-81 Dark Green 2 (RAF) and Mr. Hobby Aqueous H72 Dark Earth. Antenna is Uschi van der Rosten Super-fine thread From Da Webs 33

Scimitar F1
Very nice build. The Airfix Spitfire really captures the look of the full size aeroplane. Can I ask what you used for the antenna wire? Will
BerndM
Thats a neat, lovely Spitfire. It must be a stunning sight to have plenty of Spitfires with all propeller configuration on display.
jackroadkill
That's a lovely job. Can I ask what the issues with the tank cover and undercarriage you alluded to are?
bryanm
Very nice - interesting to see a Spit with the two blade prop and bulged canopy. Love the black and white underside!
Troy Smith
2 hours ago, jackroadkill said: Can I ask what the issues with the tank cover and undercarriage you alluded to are? the UC leg attachment as supplied is rubbish, you need to drill and pin before assembly. the fuel tank can have issues if you don't get the cockpit alignment right. I have seen various methods of dealing with this. The kit fits very precisely and you need to be very vigilant on sprue nibs and seams clean up. these are discussed in various places, but have a read of this for details. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234968337-two-148-mkvb-spitfires-tamiya-and-airfix-new-spitfire-collection-expansion-project-finished-photos-now-in-the-rfi-section-080615/ It's a long thread, note this link https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234984612-two-148-mki-spitfires-tamiya-and-airfix-new-tool-update-160815/ But they are well worth the time to read, as much Spitfire detail is discussed. That's a fine Spitfire as well @fubar57 1

Spitfire31
Very neat build! On the last (original) photo, the drooping elevators are very much in evidence… 😉 Kind regards, Joachim
fubar57
Thank you very much gentlemen and thanks for posting the link Troy 10 hours ago, Scimitar F1 said: Very nice build. Will I use Uschi van der Rosten's Super Fine thread (meant for 1:72) for all my antennae as I think its closer to scale than their Fine size. Having said that, I have now seen a few models using Fine and it looks OK as well as we are only talking .01mm of a difference https://www.uschivdr.com/products-in-detail/rigging/
