Robert Stuart
Think this qualifies - I have a few of these in my stash... And, at 95p, I think it qualifies ... That price tag reads Gamleys, which may mean I bought this in Bromley? Don't remember that shop, but I do remember a model shop in Holborn that was taken over by Beatties (was that a Gamleys before?).
PlaStix
Hi Rob. Good to see you here. Nice choice of kit too. Always interesting to see the old price stickers. Kind regards, Stix
TonyOD
Surely there must be a demand for a “less than a quid” GB... 😁 2

Robert Stuart
Sprue shots time ... OK, not sprue, but the back of the box ... No clear window, so this was a late(ish) edition. The sprues, with wind-screen inset Now, it wouldn't be one of my builds without some problem or other, but I usually get into the build before finding them. The decals ... ... are showing their age. The problem here is that the protective paper is sticking to the decal film. If it was sticking to the backing paper, that would be manageable, but the film?
GREG DESTEC
Great looking kit there Robert, maybe try placing the decals on the window cill.in direct sunlight for a while to see if that helps? Cheers Greg
PlaStix
Hi Robert. Annoying about the decals and I hope you manage to sort something out. The protective film may naturally come away when you soak them in water......maybe... You could try cutting out the black rectangle with the name on and see what happens when you put it in water. I removed as much of the film as I safely could, then took some cotton buds and water, trying to rub away the worst of the protective film. This is the result as it stands: Not perfect, but much better than I'd expected. Some varnish(?) was rubbed away in the process - this next photo shows it in a worse light The port rudder is, perhaps, the most vulnerable part here.
Richard Tucker
I built a Fury recently and used an extra set of decals. Let me see what I have in my stash and I'll post them to you for £

Robert Stuart
Thanks to Richard, I now have a set of Revell decals - the one on the left in his photo. So, this will now be from 43 Squadron, with a yellow turtle deck, and red outline squadron markings.
Robert Stuart
And, now to start ... The first thing I worked on was the pilot's seat. This started as a simple cushioned block, much like the middle of a sofa or settee. This would be fine if the airman was in his office. Checking drawings of the Fury, the seat's outline isn't too bad, the main problem being the padding on the back and bottom. A bit of work with some fine chisels has improved it, though some sanding and filler will be required to finish the job. To fully detail the 'pit, I should get rid of the floor around the kick-boards - that isn't going to happen! Other details to clean up include the starboard side of the cockpit ... ... and some ejector pin marks under the upper wing centre section (That fabric sag is a bit worrying too, maybe I'll look into that later?) Some (rudimentary) detail has been added to the fuselage sides - the longerons and struts are 10 thou plasticard, the back board (?) is 20 thou. And, dry fitted I know you've seen them before, but here's an image of Richard's Revell decals:
