stevehed
An Albatros B.11 armed with a Parabellum mg in the front cockpit. Aircraft of this configuration served until the end of 1915 on the Western Front and then up to the summer of 1916 on the Eastern Fronts until replaced by the improved C types, most of which had the defensive armament relocated to the rear cockpit. The kit is a Formaplane vac form which builds into a decent example OOB and provides an excellent basis to those with the necessary conversions skills as this type served as a trainer until EOW. Ray S
This is my rendition of the Airfix Albatros DVa, a kit which was produced in the same year as I was. This was the latest issue in the red box, so the transfers were excellent. I added some bits and pieces from plastic rod and sheet, and, after authorisation, replaced the rather basic guns and prop with spares from a Roden DI which will be surplus to requirements when I built that one. I also used a handle from a control stick from a Libramodels etch set which I had had since the 1980's, but still kept the whole build at under £10. Here it is, 1/72 scale Albatros DVa flown by Manfred von Richthofen, France 1917 The build log is here: Thanks to all who dropped in and commented, looked and liked, it has been a fun Group Build and I now have two colourful biplanes for my collection. Also, a huge thanks to our hosts for your efforts. All the best everyone, Ray Edited August 15, 2021 by Ray S Could not spell 'efforts'
Ravnos
Hi Folks, got there eventually! Here is my 1/48 ICM P-51K Mustang "Sunshine" Build Log: Model is more or less OOB with the addition of a 3D printed stand, Painted with Vallejo Metal Colour and Model air paints and weathered with artists oils and some acrylic washes. Man, keeping it to only 5 pictures is hard 🤣 Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement along the way I've had a blast. And thanks very much to our hosts! can't wait for the next one.
AdrianMF
Rareplanes Supermarine Spiteful for £5 off the bay, finished in three weeks and a day. Straight OOB (it didn’t have a box) plus card, paper, brass tubing and cocktail sticks for the guns: …and a reminder that once someone points you at an undercarriage bay walkaround it’s impossible to un-see it! It is marked as RB515 (first production airframe) on the port side and RB518 (fastest ever British service piston aircraft in level flight at 494mph) on the starboard side. WIP is here if you are interested. Thanks all for a great fun GB - I’ve really enjoyed building my four and watching all the other builds! PeterB
This is the old Airfix 1/72 Petlyakov Pe-2. It may not be entirely accurate but it is a nice looking plane and built up pretty well OOB except for replacement decs kindly donated by Graham and a machine gun barrel on the Port side of the nose which Airfix missed. I have marked up up as the plane flown by Capt. Alesander Gdnedoy of 12th GvBAP of the Baltic Fleet Air Force in November 1944. The slogan reads "For Great Stalin". Along with the Il-2 the Pe-2 was one of the main Soviet ground attack planes and was built in considerable numbers. This is my final entry in what has been a very enjoyable GB so thanks to all involved. Pete

Torbjorn
My - unfortunately only - contribution is a 1/72 model of one of five Clerget-equipped Avro 504K trainers bought by the Swedish naval aviation in 1923, taken in service as Flying boat no. 6 and used as a winter-time trainer. The navy did not operate any air fields, but used some ski-equipped aircraft during the winters on strips plowed on the ice. It was taken over by the Air Force when it was formed in ’26 and re-equipped with wheels. There it did not last long. In November 1927 ex-Fb.6 crashed in the river Rönne due to engine failure: the instructor survived but trainee Bengt Richert could not be saved and drowned in the icy waters. Estimate of model cost: -Airfix Avro 504k of 1960s vintage -£1.5 -Blue rider decals - £2 (half of sheet price) -Rigging material - hair raided from the boss’s hairbrush - £0 From the spares box, let’s say £1: -Roden Clerget from a Camel kit -Nieuport seats from Eduard kits -PE instruments +various scratch-built bits and bobs (landing gear, rudder, cockpit) Build: And the model, in the livery of the Swedish Naval air service, ~1924:

nimrod54
This is my second completion for the GB and was built as it comes in the box with the exception of some enamel paint for the red colour. The kit was purchased for the princely sum of £4.99 at our local Lidl store. bianfuxia
Here are my "Japanese Navy Auxiliary Vessels" by Tamiya in 1/700. In a couple of shots you can see it with my cruiser Natori, just for a bit of size context. 13 is a sub-chaser - those are supposed to be depth charge racks on the back there, with a thrower either side. It has a twin AA gun on the tail and a deck gun forward. 19 with the three larger guns is a mine sweeper - it has the gear for that on the rear. According to the instructions, the mine sweeper would have to go in ahead of the main taskforce so it needed some heavier guns in case it ran into....an American destroyer which would probably wipe it out easily. The other one in the middle with the Japanese writing on the side is a minelayer. These are pretty old and very simple little kits. Here's the build thread if you're interested: Edited September 5, 2021 by bianfuxia
