After seeing Roger's( @Dunny) fabulous Fulmar build I noticed that the Landing light was not present as a clear light in this kit, just panel lines, so cut out Boxed in and painted, needs some tidying as dovyhe cannons More filling and sanding then !!!! Thanks for looking Chris Nice work! That will certainly add to the finished appearance. What will you use to cover it? 1

Keith Excellent Keith, that's wonderful to get the paint on do you have it on a thread ? I am sorry of you have I have missed it so far. Firefly landing light sorted just going to file down the cover and clean up and clean up rear cockpit glazing and then it's paint wahoo. Thanks Keith Chris 1
bigbadbadge Posted June 15, 2021 Author Posted June 15, 2021 Hi all Some progress on the landing light used the Brengun PE light and filled using lazerglaze UV glue Covered with a 72nd Spitfire rear Canopy section I used Rocket clear C A and there are still some bits inside of the canopy that I now cannot do anything about! Oh no it's gone Phew there it is!!! Really annoyed about the inside, but not taking off now as want this done now and fear a long stint on the shelf of doom if I try and re do! Thanks for looking. Chris 13

Hi Chris, no, I don't do build threads anymore, I just take so long to build anything now I'd forget I'd started them so they'd never get updated! I bought the Kfir from Wingman Models at the last Telford show in 2019 & started it straight away - it's only taken me 19 months to get it into primer....!! Nice work with the UV glue on the landing light and great left field thinking with the Spit canopy section! Keith 1 1

Glad you got the primer on, that's a shame no WIP, although I know what you mean I do some without WIPs as my build speed is somewhat glacial and don't think there would be any interest too, plus there are so many kits and so little time!!! I also have the two vehicle kits to do and some locos too so am going to have split my modelling time I think. Thanks for your kind words Chris 2
RichieW Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 It's another good update, don't worry about the glue inside the landing light. If you hadn't mentioned I wouldn't have looked for it and would never have known. Besides that you will do such a fantastic paint job that everybody will be too bowled over to look out for very small blemishes like that. Richie 1 1

Cheers, Roger Thanks Roger, very kind fella. The Brengun PE set is definitely worth getting and easy to use. Re the light cover, I had to scrap my twin seat Spitfire as not good and it seemed to be the right size and afet a quick file it was popped in with a shim at one end. Thanks guys Chris 2
AliGauld Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Looking good. Nice work with the canopy. Cheers, Alistair 1
AdrianMF Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 "Spot the Spitfire part..." nice one. Love the new Vickers guns too. Regards, Adrian 1

Regards, Adrian Thanks Adrian it literally fell in my lap whilst I was dismantling my AZ model TR9 Spitfire as I had been having canopy issues and it didn't look right anyway and the rear section fell I my lap and it was a light bulb moment!!! Thanks guys Chris 1
bigbadbadge Posted June 18, 2021 Author Posted June 18, 2021 Hi all I have been working away on this little baby this last week it's the Testors 48th scale Travelair Mystery Ship, when I got it it came with resin cockpit details but was missing the joystick and Rudder pedals And the Firefly is finally ready for paint phew!!! Thanks for looking Chris 15
keefr22 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 That Travelair looks a real little cutie next to that brute of a Firefly! Looking forward to seeing the paint go on Chris! Keith 1

Terry1954 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Just stumbled across this delightful thread Chris. Caught up now and rather impressed, some FAA types, and that Herald in the middle made my day! I'll stick around for the rest if I may. Terry 1 1

The little Mystery Ship is a lovely looking machine and will look great painted too. 7 hours ago, Terry1954 said: Just stumbled across this delightful thread Chris. Terry Thanks Terry, I have wanted to do lots of FAA types for a while and have quite a few to build. The Herald was on yhe shelf of doom but was resurrected earlier this year and finally sprayed recently, will get back on with it once the paint has hardened. The Herald is a lovely type and loved watching them come in and out of Lydd in the 70s and early 80s. Thanks guys Chris 3
bigbadbadge Posted June 19, 2021 Author Posted June 19, 2021 As promised some paint has been applied, so far two thinned coats of Humbrol 90 brushed on oooooo that feels good, although still got one or two more coats to do Chris 13
keefr22 Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Looking good Chris - I do envy you brush painters, such a pain having to clean out the airbrush - did a bit of painting yesterday on a small tank model for our club's next competition, took way longer to clean the airbrush out than the actual painting did! Keith 2 1 1
Dunny Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Chris, Looking good - it may be a trick of the light, but the Sky looks to me to be quite grey? Cheers, Roger 1
RichieW Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Nice exciting stage of any build when the paint starts going on. That travelair looks like a really charming little aircraft. I'm looking forward to seeing it come together. In the meantime I'd better look it up, it's not one I'm at all familiar with. I love the educational aspect of modelling! Richie 1
