After seeing Roger's( @Dunny) fabulous Fulmar build I noticed that the Landing light was not present as a clear light in this kit, just panel lines, so cut out

 

Boxed in and painted, needs some tidying as dovyhe cannons

 

 

More filling and sanding then !!!!

I've been saying that for months about the Kfir Chris and finally got it into primer over the weekend - so I bet your Firefly will follow very soon!

Excellent Keith, that's wonderful to get the paint on do you have it on a thread ?  I am sorry of you have I have missed it so far.  

Firefly landing light sorted just going to file down the cover and clean up and clean up rear cockpit glazing and then it's paint wahoo.

Hi all

 

Some progress on the landing light used the Brengun PE light and filled using lazerglaze UV glue

 

Covered with a 72nd Spitfire rear Canopy section

 

I used Rocket clear C A and there are still some bits inside of the canopy  that I now cannot do anything about!

 

 

Oh no it's gone

 

Phew there it is!!!

 

Really annoyed about the inside,  but not taking off now as want this done now and fear a long stint on the shelf of doom if I try and re do!

Hi Chris, no, I don't do build threads anymore, I just take so long to build anything now I'd forget I'd started them so they'd never get updated! I bought the Kfir from Wingman Models at the last Telford show in 2019 & started it straight away - it's only taken me 19 months to get it into primer....!!

Thanks Keith, very kind fella.   Glad you got the primer on, that's a shame no WIP, although I know what you mean I do some without WIPs as my build speed is somewhat glacial and don't think there would be any interest too, plus there are so many kits and so little time!!! I also have the two vehicle kits to do and some locos too so am going to have split my modelling time I think.

It's another good update, don't worry about the glue inside the landing light. If you hadn't mentioned I wouldn't have looked for it and would never have known. Besides that you will do such a fantastic paint job that everybody will be too bowled over to look out for very small blemishes like that.

Thanks Richie, very kind word indeed, no pressure then 😀 . I am very hopeful that paint will be imminent,  honest.

Thanks Roger, very kind fella.  The Brengun PE set is definitely worth getting and easy to use.  Re the light cover, I had to scrap my twin seat Spitfire as not good and it seemed to be the right size and afet a quick file it was popped in with a shim at one end.

Thanks Alistair,  I am gradually getting there,  brush painting the frame and cleaning up with cocktail sticks is wonderful but the frames are shallow and I keep slipping!!!🙄

Thanks Adrian it literally fell in my lap whilst I was dismantling my AZ model TR9 Spitfire as I had been having canopy issues and it didn't look right anyway and the rear section fell I my lap and it was a light bulb moment!!!

Hi all

I have been working away on this little baby this last week it's the Testors 48th scale Travelair Mystery Ship, when I got it it came with resin cockpit details but was missing the joystick and Rudder pedals

 

 

 

 

And the Firefly is finally ready for paint phew!!!

Thanks Keith,  yes it's a lovely looking machine and is quite enjoyable the fit is great too.  I can't believe the size difference between the two.

Thanks Roger, your wait will be rewarded soon, I am hoping to sneak some bench time today whilst SWMBO is at work, don't tell her though !!! The little Mystery Ship is a lovely looking machine and will look great painted too.

Thanks Terry, I have wanted to do lots of FAA types for a while and have quite a few to build.

The Herald was on yhe shelf of doom but was resurrected earlier this year and finally sprayed recently,  will get back on with it once the paint has hardened. The Herald is a lovely type and loved watching them come in and out of Lydd in the 70s and early 80s.

As promised some paint has been applied, so far two thinned coats of Humbrol 90 brushed on

Looking good Chris - I do envy you brush painters, such a pain having to clean out the airbrush - did a bit of painting yesterday on a small tank model for our club's next competition, took way longer to clean the airbrush out than the actual painting did!

Nice exciting stage of any build when the paint starts going on.

 

That travelair looks like a really charming little aircraft. I'm looking forward to seeing it come together. In the meantime I'd better look it up, it's not one I'm at all familiar with. I love the educational aspect of modelling!
