I flirted with the idea of getting a nice CMR one at one point but it's so far over the hill I think 'I'll just see what's available in 2062 when I get around to it! 2062 No worries Andy, there is a conversion using the 48th Airfix Fury and using another one so the wings can be extended. You have done a short run kit that turned out very well, only a bit more of a step to do a CMR resin kit, food for thought Chris
bigbadbadge
Hi all I have not forgotten about this but, have been busy with the Gee Bee in the GB. Some very small progress has been made on the Nimrod, the cockpit framing has been painted, this is how it comes and I have just painted I have been experimenting making seats, the kit one is in the middle and my first attempt in plasticard is on the right, the tin one from a pie tin is the one I will use The plasticard home made seat is now deforming due to glue and thickness, the pie tin seat looks okay and oddly i have painted aluminium The seat on the left is the Sea Hurricane Seat, I am just cleaning up the cockpit framing Thanks for looking Chris

Chris Chris, I think it's a winner. It looks much more scale and nice and crisp. This has definitely been noted for future use! 1

bigbadbadge
Hi all I thought I had better add an update after changing the title. Some small progress on the Sea Hurricane, I have been cleaning up all the cockpit framing etc but some assembly has started The cockpit components for the Seafire which have now had a wash added. A big step for the Gee Bee in the GB, engine added to cowling , cowling supports added and the whole lot added, rigging also completed Thanks for looking in Chris

Ngantek
Geebee looks cracking! Great work on the seat build as well. Wait when did the seafire turn up!? Looks airfixy from the plastic. The xvii? Quick side questions Chris, I know you've covered this many times. Do you prime before your first enamel coat? Roughly what thinning ratio for brushing? I have to build something without the airbrush and it's a bit of a bunny in the headlights moment! Andy 1

CC Thanks CC, pleased with how the GB has turned out, paintwork was fun, used the plan on the back of the instructions and made my own masking tape masks, the side of fuselage scallop and the wheel spats were free hand though. 1 hour ago, Ngantek said: Geebee looks cracking! Andy Thanks Andy, very pleased and not too far to go on the Gee Bee now. I started the Seafire not long after finishing the PR.IV , as I want to have some Spitfire variant on the go all the time . The Seafire is indeed an Airfix one, it’s the F.XVII. trying to do OOB though apart from Seatbelts. It's not that much really , I have no idea of ratio , I just stick the non business end of a brush into the tin of paint and pour some Naptha thinners against it so it flows into the pot, not much though and stir in and if too thick repeat that , you don't need much Andy and the paint flows well. It all a bit sloppy in terms of measuring out but it works for me, you will really enjoy it when you give it a try. Thanks guys Chris

keefr22
Somehow I've not been getting notifications for a couple of weeks Chris, so have missed some cracking updates from the production line! Good progress on everything, but I have to agree with the others that the Gee Bee looks fantastic (as does the tin seat - was the pie nice?!) Keith Hi Keith no worries fella, I am struggling with time at the mo and haven't visited the vehicle section, although I want to get back there and check out some builds. Thanks as always for your kind comments, the Sea Hurricane and Nimrod now started and the Gee Bee is nearly finished. Pleased with it I must say. Very pleased with the Pie tin seat too and it certainly was a lovely steak and Kidney number, not as good as Mum used to make, but needed the foil . Thanks fella Chris

Chris Been looking after my dad this week so was a bit late to reply. I was so thrilled to see your scratch work. Little details like that are much harder to make than large structures. It's only a matter of time before you fully turn to the dark side! Richie 1
