Rob Thanks Rob, that's very kind, I have been looking forward to building this for a long time and really enjoying this one. It is nearly ready to be fixed into the cowling. 7 hours ago, AdrianMF said: That engine is sublime! Marvellous stuff. Love the colour on your VW too. Many years ago I used to work with a chap who drove a Variant (same colour) with a spare engine in the boot on top of the real one. Not sure that was great for weight distribution... Regards, Adrian Thanks Adrian, really pleased with the engine. The Fastback is Colour L539 Baltic blue, it is the original colour. The car is very original and any mods made by me are totally reversible. No cuts or holes made to the bodywork or brightwork. The guy who used to run with the spare motor, his name wasn't Steve was it? This guy has a cracking late model Fastback and has a spare engine in the form of a tuned ex Police car motor he swaps them around to keep mileage low. 5 hours ago, Dunny said: I think they are, but whatever the case it's looking lovely! Thanks Roger, very kind fella, I think your right, they will show as a bracket then when I mount the air intake cones. Thanks guys Chris 2

bigbadbadge Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Hi all Engine as is in the AIMS set is finished. I have seen some period photos of the aircraft and the cowl supports looked like a silver colour so I added the intake cones and painted them as such. Some weathering of the exhaust stubbs and collector ringvinside has taken place as well as some oil spill/spray on the inside of the cowling. And glued into the cowling I have really enjoyed making this engine, AIMS are certainly to be congratulated on producing such a wonderful engine set, very highly recommended. I might have a look at making the rear cowling supports, not sure yet. Very pleased with this Thanks for looking in. Chris 18
keefr22 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 That looks brilliant Chris, excellent work! Really like the oil staining inside the cowling (well, really like all of it t.b.h.! ) Keith PS - also never actually realised how an exhaust collector ring connected on a radial engine - I do now! 1 1
2996 Victor Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Oh, my word: that is out of this world, Chris! Absolutely amazing! 1
Dunny Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Chris, Nice work - I shall store the info on the intake cones for potential future use, Cheers, Roger 1 1

Thanks Keith really pleased to have the engine assembly done, not sure if the oil staining is correct, I have surmised due to the exposed rockers etc , pleased with the overall effect though. There are another set of cowling supports to go on the backs of the heads too, will see how I can do that. 9 hours ago, 2996 Victor said: Oh, my word: that is out of this world, Chris! Cheers, Alistair Thanks Alistair, it is a lovely kit in it's own right and was a joy to pit together. I like painting these up. Just got to try and make the rest of it as good now. Seat is all soldered up with some extras added and just painting the interior bits. Also started another two FAA subjects, a Martlet Mk.V and an Avenger Mk.1. Chris 2
bigbadbadge Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 Hi all Some small progress The seat on the Sea Gladiator built up and soldered together, added some plasticard strip and some lead wire to the back 72nd scale Airfix Wildcat/Martlet V cockpit started Sword 72nd Avenger 1 started,I started modifying the rear cockpit but stopped after doing this as nothing will be seen anyway Crash tender roof on , windows in and building up the red paint. Avenger together and just in process of filling the wing to fuselage joints Martlet V together, just had its first sky coat. Used a Starfighter models engine for the front bank of cylinders and gearbox etc Sea Gladiator Seat painted Cockpit framing started using the AIMS PE set. Still loads to do, got to figure out how to mount the seat so may build up the frames separately from the fuselage instead of adding each one to each fuselage half. Just started another Seafire, with the next one waiting until the Fuselage being put together too, nothing worth photographing yet Hope this is of interest. Thanks for looking Chris 13
2996 Victor Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Wow, Chris, you're a machine! So much happening here that my head is swimming 😵 Great work all round, mate! Cheers, Mark 2 1

How you keep track of what everything your working on is and what kit it's for is beyond me - I'd probably end up with a Wildvenger and an Avcat.... Great work on it all! Keith 2 1

Keith 😄 Thanks Keith, very kind. I have lots of little pots with all the bits in for each and that way I should be okay. I like that an Avcat and wildvenger, brilliant 😄 Going to be having a reshuffle of the Mancave and will be making a new bench which will allow me to be a bit more organised and tackle some bigger builds too. Thanks Chris 3

Will get there eventually Thanks Chris 1
