Chris, I may have missed you saying how you use the powders, but how do you mean you 'no longer have to drybrush them on'? I know no other way....!!

Keith

Hi Keith, yes I have stopped doing that a long time ago and use Humbrol weathering powders and a mig powder.  Humbrol smoke powder is used for cage main deposits and I go over them with a light sand or European mud powders from Mig , I use an old well used brush and gently add a bit at a time in the pattern you want and build it up. The good thing about the powders is if you make a mistake or put too much on it removes easily with water on a cotton bud, let dry and start again. The only thing I have to be careful with is handling the model whm finished as I can't seal the powders in.

I brush mine on over the Matt coat.

Hope that helps Keith, they are very handy and last a long time too.

Wow, Chris, this is one stunning Seafire - she's an absolute corker! The way you've captured the weathered effect of a busy life at sea is superb!

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark, I hope the cruise was enjoyable 😉 and you had a great time with SWMBO.   Sorry for my late response,  it was the turn of the page ghat caught me our there.  Thanks for your kind comments and support during the build.

Pleased with it and glad this one is finished.  Just started another Seafire and something you are familiar with too😉  will get some photos up when some progress occurs.

Hi Chris,

Thanks, yes, the cruise was stunning! The only downside was the rather high proportion of at sea days to on shore days, but that's only a tiny criticism. As first time cruisers, we should perhaps have looked a bit more closely at the itinery :D But we're already planning the next one, fjords again but more shore time.

One of the highlights for me was the train from Narvik to Bjornfjell on the Swedish border on the Ofoten Railway. The scenery was INCREDIBLE!!! -12 degrees Celsius at Bjornfjell :D

Anyway, the Seafire is an absolute stunner, Chris, and an inspiration too. Definitely a build I'd like to emulate! Definitely looking forward to the next one and I'm intrigued by the "mystery" ship (if you'll pardon the pun!).

Cheers,

Mark

Glad you enjoyed the cruise  and the railway journey sounds great, there is a Norwegian railway loco near us on the KESRat Tenterden .

Thanks for you generous comments re the Seafire, the Mystery build will be revealed soon , you already know about it though as you sent the conversion parts😉

Thanks

I didn't know that - I need to look at that! I took loads of pics of dockside fish warehouses in Haugesund thinking of a model railway layout :D

I thought I had some pics of it, but they're on an old phone.  Interesting layout idea.

Hi all

Now the Seafire is finished I have started another Seafire III, along with a bonus Airfix 72nd Mk.1 Spitfire which is being converted to a Mk.2. The Seafire is the Special Hobby Kit.

Also now being worked on is an FAA Beaufighter Mk.II using the Airfix 72nd scale Mk X kit and Alley Catz late conversion. Which I got from Mark @2996 Victor, thanks Mark.

I have just started with the cockpit/cabin  and fuselage and have used yhe self adhesive Eduard PE set for the cockpit.

Might add some further bits too.
