Great progress, Chris.  I always impresses me how you manage to focus on more than one model at a time, and achieve consistent quality at the same time.

Definitely! :D

Thanks Mark and Mark, I always like to have more than one on the go so when one needs to dry or set for example,  I can then carry on with another.  It can also be a curse though and sometimesaffect the old Mojo 🙄 BM helps there with all the support and encouragement from fellow modellers, absolutely fantastic.

Well, the upper wing goes on top, so the lower wing goes on the bottom. Does that help? :)

:coat: see ya....!!

Keith

Brilliant thanks Keith 🤣I like that.

Thanks guys

Hi all

Some progress on the Seafire, the Spitfire has had the Navy bits added, with spigots and catapult spools, strengthening plates added along with cannon blisters.

The Nimrod has moved on a bit

The rudder cable shrouds made from scrap brass

Some paint has been applied,  there is a mask set for this but I couldn't get on with it so uses Tamiya tape instead

I have also modified the horizontal tail planes so the cables go through and will add this soon.

Thanks for looking

Lovely work on the Seafire, Chris, very neat strengthening plates, plus the Naval start/stop gear is looking great. Lovely work! And the Nimrod, well now, what a beauty! Not sure about the tail whiskers, though ;)

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark, the strengthening plates etc is all part of the MDC conversion,  they are sticky backed paper and pleased that they all stuck down asserting on a bit now.  Tail whiskers on the Nimrod will soon be tidied😉

Excellent work and additions Chris. Don't know how you manage so many kits at once, I can barely manage one!

Thanks Charlie, I have been struggling lately,  but have been suffering covid and now getting over so hopefully will be back on track, as need to whittle down the stash😉

Great update Chris - this thread is becoming a go to reference on Seafires!  :)

I do like that blue you've used on the Nimrod too!

Keith

Thanks Keith, very kind if you, I have a few more Seafires to go too!!! The Nimrod is starting to look good, the blue is Humbrol 109 with a bit of white to lighten it , hopefully ot matches😬

What a brilliant idea! That's a technique that could be transferred to other models, especially for silhouette etc owners.

Glad to hear you're getting over the covid, too.

Yes it is a great idea and certainly would be handy.

Thanks Mark, this new variant seemed to have an added sickness element,  oh joy.  I am feeling a lot better, just can't taste and smell anything yet though🙄

Nice work on the Seafire and the Nimrod Chris,

Looking fantastic now can't wait for more paint.

Cheers,

Hi all

A bit more progress on these two

Part of the tail feathers now added to the Nimrod,  I am currently painting the vertical tailplane and rudder ready for decals and eyelets.

The Seafire III underside now done, will start on the topside soon.

Thinking I hadn't already got enough on I located an old build of the Airfix Seafire 47, that was in a box for restoration. I was thinking of getting a new kit however,  I located someone on Ebay selling a set of decals and instructions at a reasonable price so purchased them to restore this one.  Gawd knows what I was thinking when I painted this one, no wonder I was too embarrassed to keep it in the display.

This will now be stripped and redone in the correct lower colour this time.

Thanks for looking in

Lovely progress on the Nimrod and Seafire III, Chris, very impressive! The Seafire 47 looks like a fairly quick resto job to me, you'll have it looking bright and shiny as a new pin in no time :)

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark very kind, hopefully the 47 will be a fairly quick job

Quality work as usual, Chris.  The underside paint on the Seafire looks airbrushed.

Thanks Mark pleased with the III just got to add a clear coat and will start on the topside,  the white bands were masked for the first coat of Sky afterwards then its just a case of painting up the the line, that way hardly any ridge is left.

Thanks guys

Chris
