Hi Chris,

Just catching up here - great save on the oil cooler, and fingers crossed for the replacement windscreen. I'm guessing the Eduard windscreen isn't a good match?

Hope the mojo is recovering, mate, and thanks again for all your help with the Seversky S-2!

Looking forward to your next update.

All the best,

Mark

Thanks Mark,  I think I was a bit tired last night, fortunately I stopped messing with the vacform windscreen as I thought I had ruined it , luckily I hadn't and have just finished tidying it up and am pleased to say it fits, really pleased as I have put a lot into this one what with all the bits missing etc . No worries re the S2, looking forward to seeing that develope.

Thanks CC, that is very kind of you too and much appreciated too.  I am okay now though as have successfully cleaned up the windscreen now so will get the sight in and get the windscreen in place , the old Mojo will rejuvenate now.

Thanks guys

Chris

Hi all

A bit more progress,  the windscreen fettled and added and so build in back on, phew.

Oil cooler on and some rescrbing done, I can start on the Seafire bits now.  I have missed the internal frame on the top ofcthe rear canopy section, don't tell anyone😉

The Nirod has had all the fuselage joints filled and had a base coat to check and all looked good. The spine has had a thin strip of plasticard strut glued and have been filling either side of ot with PPP.  I have given it a link of paint to see what it is looking like, quite pleased withcthat so far, very nearly there.

Great stuff Chris, the windscreen save looks perfect. I like your method of filling the Nimrod spine. It looks pristine. The modelling machine rolls on! :)

Thanks Mark, Roger, Alistair and Richie, please forgive me for answering all of  you together instead of individually .  I am really pleased that the Seafire is back on track and just now need to Navalise it and add the lumps and bumps to the wings ,  so time to decide which of the machines I am modelling .  Got a further 3 Seafire III kits to do so have a few to choose between.

The Nimrod is starting to look good , just need to fettle the spine a bit more and then can start adding the PE bits and the hook etc then look at starting on the tail feathers and wings .

Thanks for your support and encouragement .

Thanks Keith, oh man, I can’t wait to see the Nimrod when done, wanted one for ages, was even going to go down the two Airfix Fury kit route, but this was released so treated myself.

Happy to read about the save and definitely looking forward to your progress 👍

Thanks Mark, really pleased I managed to save the vacform windscreen, as I have form for ruining them 🙄 it certainly was a Mojo boost.  Now I have finished the spine on the Nimrod too, I can start progressing that one too, can't wait to see this one built up.

Hi all

Been concentrating on the Nimrod and actually really enjoying it now, although the undercarriage legs were initially playing up I figured out the best way to get them right.  The radiator has been added and the Arrestor Hook and tailskid added, these were made up with the brass rod supplied with the kit.

I couldn't resist another size comparison with the Piper J3 Flitfire Cub , the subject of my other current thread

PE bits added along with head rest

Getting there, tail feathers next and trying to figure out how I will tackle the wings 😬

Thanks for looking in

Bit of a catch up for me.

Fantastic Seafire 1b! Spot on!!! Love the weathering, especially the wear on the wing root - just right.

Great Corsair and the Nimrod coming along very well Chris - great cockpit.

Thanks Charlie, very kind, pleased with those ones, hopefully the Seafire III will turn out okay and the Nimrod too, that is my first resin kit, I am enjoying it so far.

Glad you're enjoying the Nimrod a lot more now. I didn't realise it was such a big model until you showed the picture with the Cub.

Richie

Thanks Richie, yes definitely enjoying it now,  although I am just trying to figure out the lower wing so will be a slight halt to proceedings 🙄 The cub is a 48th scale kit so not really a good comparison I suppose,  but just to show the size is okay.  It certainly is going to be a beastie.

Fingers crossed, thanks Richie,  I have reached out to Glijn who built one previously as to his solution for the Rod that goes behind the main join for yhe wings as not quite sure whether to lop it to size or bend it to match Dihedral 🤔
