Thanks CC , very kind. I wanted to keep busy, so got a few on the go.

Really pleased with the VW, it is great to be back out on the road again. Looking forward to a new project in the summer too in the shape of another classic vehicle, which I am very excited about as I have dreamed of owning one for years.

@Brigbeale, Brian thanks for all the likes too

No problems Chris. You’ve probably noticed I’ve not been active on Britmodeller for about a month.

I’ve just not been ‘feeling it’ modelling wise due to other commitments.

I hope to get back to the Seasprite and Tomcats in the near future.

Oh mate, hope you can get the modelling mojo back up and running and get back to the bench Brian.  Hope all is well and remember modelling may help you get your mind off all the other commitments too.

Best wishes

TBH Chris I can't remember when I last saw an affordable one....

But good luck with the hunt, hope you get lucky! :)

PS if you change your mind and fancy a Mini GT project, I know where there's one going cheap.....!!! 🤣

Thanks Keith, Mini GT project might sound interesting,  no I must resist Keith, always fancied a Mini, but have been deliberating for quite a while and made up my mind, I don't mind a Ratty one, as will gradually do it up as I drive it.  It will also be an investment too. My friend has a 914/6 one of the 9 Crayford Converted ones to RHD, would love that one but can't afford it unfortunately.

Fingers crossed they have not gone up too much by the time I can get one.

Understatement of the year goes to…. 😂.  I’m not a car guy, but that would be my absolute fantasy car to own.  Good luck with the hunt for the Porsche.  Some years ago a colleague took me to the Porsche museum in Stuttgart when we had some spare on a business trip.  While they all tend to look the same to me, I did enjoy the visit and gained an appreciation of the Porsche elegance.

That's a shame, it's always great to buy a car that you know. I don't know much about 914's tbh (always wanted a 911. but the money spent on my daughter's horse riding scuppered that!) but many years ago my then boss had one and I went out in it with him a few times (only as a passenger unfortunately!), and I have to say it's probably the best handling car I've ever been in - the old 'it corners like it's on rails' cliche definitely applied! (but it was always dry, dunno what it was like in the wet?!!)

One tip - whatever you do don't buy a 924 if you can't find a 914 - I bought one in preference to a Mk2 RS2000 and it's the worst mistake I ever made car buying....!! :rofl2:

Thanks Roger, just got to find one when the funds become available. 😬 I have always loved the quirky looking car.

Yes an E Type would be amazing,  but definitely out of my range. Porsche fo have a certain elegance, especially the earlier 911 series, hmmm yummy

You would like the 914 as supposedly the most balanced car and handles well due to the location of the engine.  I will hopefully find out 😉

Keith I did a similar thing when I was 18, wanted to buy a Lancia Montr Carlo as they were reasonably priced and quick cars, I had a Delta previously and was impressed with it. My Dad was steering me towards a mk.1 Astra🤢 I ended up listening to the supposed good advise and ended up with a boring Astra . 6 months later the Monte Carlos were doubled in price and I have never done that since, nor have I bought another Vauxhall either!!!

Hi all

Progress has been made, the Avenger has the painted turret added and canopy glazing, the Seafire cockpit completed and fuselage buttoned up and wings assembled.

Sea Gladiator cockpit is not far from completion

I have dryfitted the fuselage framing at it all fits which is a relief too.

Pleased with the look of it all so far.

Thanks for looking in

Fine job Chris....

The Sea Gladiator is looking fine !!

Now, that one has a nickname, I'll try to find it back....

There is also a Matra bagheera to be restored, but even at 2000€ I'm not that masochist.....

The guy is selling it because of an illness, so he cannot carry on with the work of restoration....

Interested ???:rofl2::rofl2:

Sincerely.

Thanks CC, once I get it home I will add a pic.  Its not in perfect nick but it is very solid and has a lot of history,  it's a US import from Nevada area.

Nice work on the cockpit but great news on the 914.  A US import, so left hand drive?  What model year is it?

Thanks Mark, got tge lower seat mounts in and height adjustment lever too, pleased with the way it is turning out.

Well chuffed to get one, they were all LHD apart from 9 Crayford conversions ones, i think, that were changed to RHD.  My friend has one, it is a 2.2 flat 6 914/6, very nice, I couldn't afford that one though😄

Thanks guys
