See my comment in the Beaufighter thread.

Answered on there too😄😉, it is a relaxing process drybrushing the faded bits.

Thanks Mark

Thanks Mark, I just hope it turns out okay, trying not to overdo it although these machines were quite weathered/faded.

Thanks guys

😄 Thanks Roger, very pleased with it,  I would be living in the garage if I did, SWMBO would be most aggrieved about the fumes.

That paint job is spectacular!  And with a hand brush too!

Thanks Opus999,  very pleased with it, just been looking at what I can do with the undercarriage doors for this one as they have no interior details at all so going to take a bit longer than anticipated 🙄

Thanjs

Absolutely stunning Chris, I know I dont comment much on your builds, but I sure follow and enjoy all of them!

What you can do with a brush is staggering and an art very few have mastered in my opinion....you sir, definitely have!

Love the Merlin Beau, keep up the awesome work

Wow thanks Anthony,  that is really kind of you, I just don't know any other way, not being able to airbrush, so years of practice really.  Very pleased with the Beaufighter so far.

Thanks

Beautiful brushwork on your Beaufighter Chris as usual! - have you decided what's next model on your build list?

Chris

Thanks Chris, very kind.  I do have the Nimrod still to finish, the Seafire and a Sea Harrier that I do a bit of every now and again, but I am thinking might do a Sea Gladiator possibly I also have a Firefly which is another candidate??? I also have some Lynx Helicopters to do too🤔

Hi all

Now that the Dallachy Beaufighter is finished I wanted to get back to this thread.

Work recommenced on the SH Seafire III

It was a bit of a so and so to get the fuselage and wings together  and required some fettling.

I applied some decals to the Beaufighter,  they are slightly too big looking at the High Planes decal instructions I found online.   I decided to use them anyway although I narrowed the 8 and R on each side to match the letters better. Tge only trouble is they are tge wrong colour.

So painting began with a fine brush

First coat of Humbrol trainer yellow

Second coat is Colourcoats RAF and FAA yellow

I have added just a few of the stencils as the image of the front of the real aircraft showed no stencils so decided to leave off nearly all stencils.  Serial numbers added too.

Exhausts and props and undercarriage being prepped now.

Thanks for looking

The Seafire is coming along very nicely, Chris, and the Beau is looking gorgeous. Great work on the codes, too, we're you a sign-writer in a previous life, by any chance?

Thanks Mark, the Seafire is nearly ready for paint.   Pleased with the codes on the Beaufighter. I was a draughtsman using pens before the days of CAD and have dabbled with a few signs over the years. For mates though as not a sign writer by trade done in payment for work carried out by them on my car.

Wow Chris, that Beaufighter is really terrific looking!  Nice save on the squadron codes too.

Thanks Opus999,  really pleased with those codes, I must motivate myself to get the undercarriage legs finished and get an oil wash started.
