keiron99
I may have my terminology wrong here - I'm not sure whether it's a "tip" or a "nozzle". I'm referring to the very small part at the front with a hole that the needle pokes through. Either way, how do I remove it? I have a no-brand cheapish (battery powered) airbrush and it's stopped performing the way it did when I first got it. I've cleaned everything as best as I can but I'm still having problems and I suspect it may be at the "tip" end of the airbrush. Alas, without removing it, I can't get in to clean it. I see many airbrushes come with a wrench, but mine didn't, and I can't see where to get one. Can I just use pointed pliers or is there a risk of damaging things? Stef N.
Aye, it's the nozzle and I think you will need a special wrench as it isn't something you want to damage. If my one is anything to go by it is the most expensive part to replace. You can get wrenches from specialist shops but you will have to check the size. bmwh548
I use to do it with tweezers when I was too lazy to reach for the "wrench". It's not the unscrewing that's problematic, it's the screwing back on. You need to "feel" it or you'll break it and you'll end up needing a new one.
nheather
The nozzle will have opposing flats - to use a wrench on. Nozzle really shouldn't be on tight - they are easy to snap. So just cut a rectangle out of a piece is plastic same width as across the flats. That will be enough to work as a wrench. I imagine any plastic sheet 1mm or thicker would work. Of course thin metal sheet would be even better but harder to cut. A flat wooden lolly stick or coffee stirrer would probably work too. keiron99
Thanks, Nigel. I simply cut a notch in a paint stirrer and it did the job! Had to use a magnifying glass as my ageing eyes couldn't see what was going on. Glad I did this too. There was a blob of crud stuck in there. Thanks again.
